Afternoon everyone, just checking on from work while I have a spare moment. Day is flying by and the sun is actually showing now. It has been a gloomy day out here so far today.

Now for something actually worth reading.

During the election, the Conservative Party of Canada promised Canadians they would consider extending a plan to provide tax deductibility for gym memberships.

In September 2006, Fitness Industry Canada will launch Act Now!, a national postcard writing campaign encouraging fitness club members to send a postcard - via mail or email - to the Minister of Finance and their local Member of Parliament. This is your chance to tell the Government of Canada you deserve a tax break!

Launched in conjunction with the Canadian Fitness Professionals Trade Show and Conference, Act Now! will provide fitness clubs and their members the voice necessary to make the Canadian Government realize regular gym users are deserving of a break as they are contributing to lowering national health care costs while maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.

Here is something totally entertaining and not at all true. The brushback was featured today on Cold Pizza. I read it weekly and get a kick out of the stories. Here is one of today’s.

Agassi Booed Off Court After Losing Final US Open

FLUSHING, NY–Tennis star Andre Agassi’s storied career ended in disgrace Sunday after he lost his final US Open to Benjamin Becker, an unknown German ranked 112th in the world. The crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium spent four minutes booing Agassi and pelting him with debris as he stood at center court and tried to apologize.
“I…I’m so very sorry,” said a teary-eyed Agassi. “I tried my best. See, my back hurts and I’m pretty old and I actually played a good match, all things considered. Benjamin is a fine player, despite being ranked 112th. Ow! Stop throwing things at—Ow! That was a battery! Jesus, can’t you just give me a heartfelt standing ovation for my long and wonderful career? What about all I’ve done for the sport? Okay I’m leaving. I guess this is as good a time as any to say I’ve always hated New York.”
Agassi then left to find his wife, Steffi Graf, who had already gone home halfway through the match.
