So I am back from the weekend in the Nation’s capital (Ottawa) and I am finally caught up with things and ready to look back on it for you all.

Friday, once I was all packed and the time was 5pm I got a cab and we went to pick Katie up at work. Then a quick trip to the airport and as always we were nice and early. When we got our tickets we found out we were not actually sitting together. They for whatever reason split us up and the plane was full so there was no chance and fixing this. Okay so we sit apart for 90 minutes, we will survive.

Turns out I got the better end of that news cause Katie ended up stuck to some giant guy who smelled and his shape leaked into her seat space. Several rows back I had a nice window seat and was seated next to a girl who Katie claims was hot but I never noticed. I had a nice conversation for most of the flight with the apprentice dressed girl who was in Hali for a trade show. Can I just mention that was the smallest plane I have ever been on. I had to duck no matter where I was on that tube with wings.

The flight was fine and we landed on time and we actually got out of the airport pretty fast. We cabbed to our hotel (Ottawa Merriot) and checked in. Very nice hotel and the room was nice for sure. Thanks to Sarah for getting us a deal.

We changed our clothes and freshened up and then walked downtown to the Black Thorn Cafe where there was a get together for everyone going to the wedding the next day. I got to meet all the friends of Katie’s I still had not met. It was a school get together for sure as everyone was excited to catch up with the news. I had a few drinks and just listened to a lot of good stories. The long day of travel kicked in though and we went back to the hotel and crashed. I apparently fell asleep in two seconds.

On Saturday we woke slowly and lazed around for a bit. Once we were up and dressed we had some time to spend in the city before heading into wedding mode. The plan was to go and find some breakfast and then go and find Chili Chili’s, a hot sauce shop we visited the last time we were in Ottawa.

We went to Zak’s this awesome 24/7 diner for brunch. Everytime you go there you are going to leave full and this time was no exception. A meal that would certainly last all day. We were talking with a women on a bus trip from the SOuth Shore, you can’t get away from the Maritimes I guess.

Then it was off to the hot sauce place. We walked up and down Sussex Drive a few times and did not see it? Was it gone? Did it move?? Well sadly we did not find it and that was a real bummer. I so wanted to pick up some hot mustard that I got the last time. Oh well I could not let it damper my day.

We walked back to the hotel and rested up, read the paper and watched some tennis. Then it was time to get ready! Katie put together the present and then we got all dudded up in our fancy clothes. Feel free to follow along with the pictures that are posted on the right side of the page.

We cabbed over to the church and were one of the early arrivers. It was a classic, old church that was small enough for a quaint service. It was nice to see all these people show up and make it a great day.

The service was short and sweet and full of moments that made everyone smile and feel great for the couple.

Next was the reception down the street at the National Art Center but we first had to go back to the hotel and grab the gift and Katie changed into more comfy shoes. The NAC was all decked out as we were on the roof top terrace under a giant tent. It was a very cool setup because you had the option to go outside as well.

The reception and meal was great. A lot of good food and our table was a lot of fun. Table 11 was where it was at for sure. This reception had no clinking for kisses but instead you had to go up to the mic and share a story about the bride and groom. There was an endless line of people going up and telling great stories and moments that had everyone smiling, laughing and clapping.

I of course ate too much and prolly had too much to drink and got sleepy near the end of the night. I even danced to a few songs, how can you say no to sexy back. There was some serious grooving going on as the DJ kept spitting out some classic wedding dance songs.

Steph, Kyle, Katie and I left just after midnight to go back to the hotel. Feet were sore and eyes were closing, what a fun night!

After another good sleep in the giant Merriot bed I was up around 930 and packing my stuff. The plan was to meet for brunch and then head for the airport.

We had a brunch buffet at the Lord Elgin across from the church and met up with another one of Katie’s friends, Susan.

I ate enough that I did not have another meal the rest of the day. I do love the breakfast buffets!

Back to the airport…..man I got checked out at customs pretty hard. I was beeping for everything and a crowd was gathering. Guess I looked suspisious.

The flight was late leaving and then we almost had to land in Moncton cause the air show was going on at the Hali’ airport and the Snow Birds were performing when we wanted to land.

Around 6pm it was home sweet home, greeted by a tired Bosco brown. Good to be home!

We lazed around all night, caught up on emails and phone calls and then watched United 93. Very good movie and even though it was hard to watch at times it certainly showed a side of 9/11 people should see.

Okay I think that wrapped it all up. Take a breather and go back to what you were doing.
