Last night for dinner we decided to pop down to Mcdonalds on Quinpool. Origionally the plan was to do drive thru and come back home. But Katie and I were both without cash (we soon learned you can interac with drive thru) so we decided we would go inside, quickly grab our food and head home.
Now keep in mind I have had some brutal experiences already at this particular Mcdonalds before with their lack of speed. So we go in and of course we see one line and one counter person working, sweet! The line was not moving and the kid working might as well been off the Simpsons. He was your typical kid, first job and clearly was the newest guy on the team. It always boggles my mind when a place like that puts the new guy on the counter at dinner time.
As we stand in line not moving, we see all the glorious food being shipped out the drive thru while all the people willing to turn off their cars, wait and wait. The woman at the head of the line is clearly getting frustrated and keeps asking for her order to be checked on. Slack jaw Jimmy just says yep its coming.
Katie was getting pretty agitated too and I have to say it could of been worse. She held it together and did not make a scene. Although that could of been fun to see. So this went on for a bit and we finally order. Yippeee! There were two outstanding orders still going and they waited as we ordered. Then these two little girls got their order and it turned out they owed 25 cents on a topping that Jimmy did not punch in. He was going to actually not give her the sundae! Katie stepped in and saved the day with her change and kept the line moving.
Classic moment alert: Just as Katie gets her food, with maybe 5 others in line behind us, a second spot opens on the counter and nobody is in that spot. You had to be there but it was a sitcom moment on Three’s Company for sure.
We got home and enjoyed the food and of course felt the affects later on. We should not go but that food can be so tempting!! I think from now on the experience on Quinpool will make us think twice next time, or maybe we will just try another location and hope they are more on the ball. Doubt it, fast food is becoming a thing of the past.
