So as you already know from the previous post, Halifax got its first snow of the season yesterday and a lot came out of nowhere pretty much. In just a few short hours there were a few inches of the white powder and of course the city shutdown. I was off for the day so I just stayed inside watching everything going on. Poor Katie had a horrible time getting home from work (over 2 hours) and luckily she was able to flag down a cab or it could of been more. You ask why I did not go and pick her up? Well it would of taken forever to get down there because the main roads were not moving at all. The best bet normally would of been to walk home but it was way to slippery.
So just before 8pm Katie got home to another suprise. The power had been out for about 2 hours on our street. There was a wire down at the intersection of Kline and Oak and we were all in the dark. Don’t worry we had plenty of light because the Griswalds who live on the corner across from us had power and their Christmas lights were pretty bright. So I got some candles going and started a fire because at that point I had no idea how long the power would be off. Nova Scotia Power is not known for their quickness, apparently neither are the snow plough guys.
So in the meantime I did some shoveling, let Bosco go crazy in the snow and cleaned off the car for the first time. I did not go anywhere but I wanted to be ready. Once a very cold Katie got home we got her all warmed up by the fire and then we had some comfort grilled cheese for dinner since it was so late. Couch time and snacks followed with some Rescue Me to entertain us. Not that entertaining but there was some action on Kline street on this day.
Earlier in the day I got all my chores done and decided to kick back with a movie. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby was my choice in hopes of it giving me a good laugh. Well lets just say I did laugh at a few things but it really was not a very good movie. I did not even watch the end because it was so boring and the jokes were getting on my nerves. I know a lot of people who raved about this movie and I can’t imagine why other than the fact that they were going to like it no matter what. There was no checkered flag for this stale and same old comedy.
Today I am going to catch up on what I did not get started yesterday due to the power going out and that is getting out the Christmas decorations. I want to have most of them up by the time I go back to work on Thursday and we may go out and get a tree on Saturday as well.
That is all I can think of so far this morning but it is pretty early and I am sure I will be back at some point today.
