Wow so much has been going on and I have been dropping the ball so to speak with telling you all about it. So let me do my best to re-hash what has been going on.

O’ Christmas tree

As you have seen from one of the previous posts, the tree is up and decorated. My mother was very impressed that it went from the lot to the house and decorated all in one afternoon. After talking about this with Katie, both are parents had very different ways of doing this. The common theme was letting it sit outside for a week and then letting it “settle” or “fall” before putting stuff on it.

Well it is 2006 (soon to be 2007) and we don’t play that game anymore. The new generation is all about getting stuff done and that means buying a tree, getting it home and up all in one afternoon. That leaves more time for surfing the net and sitting around in coffee shops. It was fun doing the stop animation and I just want to thank Kevin of Lord of the Fries for inspiring me to try something new. Since then I have put up more lights around the house and have really tried to get in the Christmas mood. Tomorrow night we are having some friends over so entertaining should really help that out as well. I think there may be some fancy holiday martini’s.

The Italian Stalion?

Last night a short-handed Toronto Raptors hit the road and played a tough Orlando team. Get this, they won! Not only did they win, they did it based on the performance of their foreign rook, Andrea Bargnani. He looked great scoring a career high 23 points and I think six boards as well. He even had a sick block on the man-child Dwight Howard. Just when I was ready to throw in the towel on these guys and not really give them a chance to win again until the new year they go out and do that. Their D was great too, I think they ended up with eight or nine blocks and to top it all off, Rasho was a beast. Maybe I should hold off on my Rasho jating club a little longer.

Blowup back home

A fire that started at the Imperial Oil refinery in Sarnia, Ont., following a loud explosion just before 3 a.m. was under control a few hours later, police said Thursday. Officials say there is no environmental danger and lifted an earlier warning to area residents to keep their windows shut and stay indoors. No injuries were reported and police said they had no indication of what might have caused the fire and the initial explosion. Air monitoring was being conducted in the area, but police said there was no indication of any problems. The refinery is a 24-hour operation, but police could not say how many workers may have been in the plant at the time of the fire.

Growing up in near by Corunna as a kid I can tell you those explosions are loud and pretty scary. They will knock out windows and shake the ground. I always remember my Dad always saying there was always the chance of one setting off another plant and just having one giant domino affect. They take that stuff pretty serious there so I would guess this incident will be highly investigated. I bet my mum shot out of bed at 3am and my dad and Brodie probably just kept on sleeping soundly.

Operation presents fully underway

Over the last few days I have been doing my Xmas shopping and have taken a big dent out of it. I even have stuff wrapped and under the tree already. Last night Katie and I went downtown to do a little Spring Garden Road shopping and I got more off my list. We then stopped for dinner at Rogue’s Roost and the fries were very good. Nice big beef eater ones very fresh and crispy. A Starbucks hot chocolate for the way home and then we watched the Raptor game on the couch. Heading out to the mall today to finsh some more stuff and hopefully I will be done. Here are some shots of Halfax at night.

Blogging may peak in 2007: Study

Could blogging be near the peak of its popularity? The technology gurus at Gartner Inc. believe so. One of the research company’s top 10 predictions for 2007 is that the number of bloggers will level off in the first half of next year at roughly 100 million worldwide. The reason: Most people who would ever dabble with web journals already have. Those who love it are committed to keeping it up, while others have gotten bored and moved on, said Daryl Plummer, chief Gartner fellow.

Don’t worry everyone there is no plan to level off or slow down and Cuzoogle. Full steam ahead I say.

Other notes

  • Nova Scotia will not open stores on Boxing day. Not to worry I will be in Toronto where I have the option to go shopping with all the crazies.
  • Sid the kid had 6 points last night to take over the NHL scoring lead. Yep he is good.
  • Does anyone else hate that Walmart commercial where the two girls look sick and sad to see one anothrer? (Future blog post)
  • Survivor tonight. Last show before the big finale on Sunday. Then I can officially cash in on my free dinner.
  • Finished Season 2 of The Office yesterday. I am loving it and will be starting Season 3 very soon.

That is all for this morning Cuz thats just the way it is.
