Roving “Rock” reporters - Raps edition

Jamie and Casey make their first contribution to Cuzoogle this week

I understand that Jamie and I were on assignment last night - and heaven knows, we take this sort of thing seriously. Jamie was as adept with the camera as he was for World Cup, as you can see by the accompanying pics. We were fortunate to grab Superfan before the tip off (he was down near the Platinum Club- skaking hands with everyone - the popcorn sellers, security people - everyone. I dare say he is Beloved. “Take your time.. we’re not going anywhere!” he says to J, who is trying to adjust the flash. When I asked him if he thought we would win, he grimaced. Through my trusty binocs, I noticed that he also seemed rather low key during the game. Maybe (like myself) he thinks the team is perhaps a little too, um, ….white?

Maybe he misses Vince? like the guy who I spied with the poster “All I want for Xmas is VC bak (sic). That was the only signage in the arena I saw. Everyone too busy with thundersticks to be individual or creative. Okay, I might as well get this off my chest now. The Carter Sucks stuff just makes me cringe…it is completely embarrassing. It is not high school — it is seventh grade. I might have excused it for the first or second appearance LAST YEAR, but c’mon, get a grip. Just win. Revenge (if it is even called for) is a dish best served cold.

Okay, moving on. You also see me with a lovely member of the Dance Pack. I wish she had posed with Jamie, but they were prancing by and I just grabbed the nearest one I could (better I guess me grabbing, than Jamie) and he had the camera. She was very sweet. We didn’t catch her name, but we had our eyes on her through the rest of the night and we named her Randi.

Other photos show our meal ( but not ALL the beer we consumed. We did learn one valuable thing. You can get the the excellent (tho expensive) roast beef sandwiches down near the Platinum Club, but you don’t need the fancy tickets to get there. They have good chicken wraps too.)

And speaking of food, don’t miss the shot of the wonderful concessionaire, Tan. We first fell in love with Tan at Blue Jays games, where he roved our section crying…”Licorlice…Led Licorlice!!!. Now he is to be found by the cognoscenti at Jays, Leafs, and Raptors game. Always buy something from Tan.

Okay - is someone waiting for a basketball commentary? Maybe I should leave that to J- Bru or J-Rock - but hey it’s what I’m paid for. I love TJ Ford and Garbajosa and Joey Graham. Jose Calderon and Anthony Parker seem like loose cannon. They make me scared every time they touch the ball. I will be sad to see MoPete leave. I always wished him success. And Bebe Bargnani? (we nicknamed him that last night -started out with Baby, but it needed spice) He needs time - lots, like bebes do. Lose his baby fat, step up, firm up, and stop crossing his hands over his privates –that is so….seventh grade.

Colangelo is a riot to spy on. He has NO game face. He tries to sink the ball with his head each time it goes near the basket. Very intense. Those big collars must hide the bulging veins in his neck. This man wants to win. That is the best news of all.
