Over at tvsquad they did up a list of the five best TV chararcters of 2006.

Here is their pick for #5 and I agree that Michael Scott has to be on any list of best characters.

stevecarelloffice.jpg5. Michael Scott, The Office While it’s no secret that I adore a certain member of the supporting cast, the best character on The Office is definitely Michael. He sucks the fun out of any situation by making everybody uncomfortable, but at least you know what his true colors are. He tries, and does a poor job of covering up his non-P.C. thoughts such as, “How queer! (sees camera) Queer Eye for the Straight Guy– that’s a great show!” He just tries so hard to get people to like him and to be a buddy rather than a boss.

It makes me think who my top five would be based on the shows I watch. Instead of ranking them I am just going to give a list of characters that I think are very good

  • Greg Sanders on CSI. Always liked that guy
  • Entire cast of The Office. Of note, Angela and Creed
  • Barney on How I Met Your Mother
  • Al Swearengen on Deadwood
  • Johnny “Drama” Chase on Entourage
  • Celia Hodes on Weeds
  • Tommy Gavin & Kenny Shea on Rescue Me
  • Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock
