Post Christmas haze

Good morning everyone how is the first day back to work after the holidays? I am off today and feeling very, very tired. I had my day of staying up all day yesterday after working and today I feel like I still need more sleep. Gotta bounce back though because I am back at the office tomorrow for five more days.

Anyone else feeling like the last few weeks were a blur? I had a lot of fun and saw a lot of family and friends but when thinking about it, it feels like it all started yesterday. I guess that is how the holiday season goes.

Here are a few things I may of forgotten to mention since returning from Toronto last week.

Yankee Doodle Dandy

I put a few of my gifts to use on Thursday and it ended up being a tasty dinner with a lot of leftovers. Jamie and Casey got me a cook book all about different ways to make mac and cheese and a really nice cassarole dish. Of course I wanted to try both out right away so the first recipe I tried was called Yankee Doodle Dandy, the Classic American Mac anc Cheese. It turned out pretty good and very rich and cheesy.

Basically it is cooked elbow macaronni noodles layered with a thick cheese sauce with bread crumbs and more cheese on top. Then it bakes up all nice and crispy on top and all cheesy on the inside. Here is a pic of the final product.

Katie is so smooth

Katie has been trying out her new blender over the last few days making smoothies. I sampled one yesterday and they are very good and fruity. I think now there will be a lot more fruit being eaten on Kline now that the blender drinks will be flowing. I can picture it now already, summer time and the boozy blender drinks in the backyard.

New Years

New Years Eve was a bit different this year. I worked all night and Katie went to a party with friends. My night was pretty long but at least it was hoilday pay. Katie’s night was long as well and she had a blast catching up with friends. We all met up yesterday for a brunch so at least I got to be a part of that and see some peeps. The rest of the day was very lazy. All that we really did was go for a drive. Katie went door to door for the first time including backing out of the driveway and parking when we got home. A roaring fire made the rest of the day cozy and relaxing in the living room. The only other note from the day was I finally checked out Heroes after Kevin and Jamie both told me I would like it. Not bad, I think I need to watch a few more before I can really comment.

Puzzle party

I also broke out one of my other gifts yesterday. Katie got me a puzzle for Christmas and I cleared off some space on the table yesterday to get it started. I figure it is a good blog entry as well, everyone can follow my progress. Yep that sounds exciting I know but I am going to do it anyways.

I opened it up and sifted through the 1000 pieces and got all the edges together. I got the bottom edge corner to corner all done and called it a day

Other notes

• Watched the US Office Christmas special finally from this season, so good. When Michael kept playing the clip of the song was priceless. “I don’t want to buy it, I just want to taste it”.
• Bosco and Mercy are happy they are both home and together again.
• Raptors ended 2006 with two losses. Lets hope they can fix that soon.
• Katie cooked up a nice dinner for NYE. Spicy potatoes and sausages.
• Kevin and Angela are back in Boston today.
• Hope to dig out of everything I have not done for weeks today. Laundry, bills, cleaning…….
• Mild and raining in the Fax. We had a stint of cold and snow on the weekend but it is all gone.
• Rock Star Supernova finally opens tour and it doesnt’ look good.
