Last night as you know Katie and I went to the Keg for dinner. I met her at work and we made the very short walk over to the resto around 5:30.
It was your classic Keg layout although much darker than I can remember Keg’s being. The female staff were also all very small. It was like they had a ban on any women over 5′6 or something?? We had a nice booth somewhat away from the crowd and enjoyed a very good and filling meal. We both had salad, steak and a double baked potatoe. Man it was tasty. The giant beer and ceasar went down nicely too (Me with the beer of course). I really have to learn how to do that cool double trick with the potatoe.
After dinner we sat there for a bit to let it all settle in before moving on. I felt so full I was happy not to move for a bit. Luckily we had a bit of a walk over to the movie theatre so that would be good for some digestion. It had gotten colder out as well so that was helping me fight off the feelings of nappy. Not a good thing to have when you are about to go see a three hour movie. So we headed over to Park Lane and with a quick stop at Shoppers for some candy. Once at the movies we grabbed our tickets and headed in. Very few people there so we got to choose whereever we wanted to sit.
A interesting trailers went by (all about serial killers) and it was time to see The Good Shepherd. As I mentioned I was feelng the post dinner sleeps so it was hard fighting them off for the first 20 minutes or so of the movie but after that I was fine and into the movie. I was just worried I was going to miss something since it was a film all about secrets and tips.
The movie was very good and was rolling along and just as it was at a part of wrapping things something just unbelievably stupid happened. The woman in front of us had her cell phone go off!! Can you believe that. Still today people don’t get that they have to turn those buggers off. There are at least three reminders before a film to do this and yet she figured it did not pertain to her?? So it rings twice and she answered it! Leaves to take the call and comes back and whispers to her friend that it was nothing important. Sometimes I just hate people. I mean it is not the most horrible thing in the world but it snaps you out of your movie mode and is very distracting. I think phones should be left at the door to be honest.
The movie was a smart and well planned out drama. The cast was crazy good with all kinds of stellar performances. Katie and I were talking after that the one person who was not good was Matt Damon if you can believe that. He afterall was the main character. I won’t go into detail but after you see it you just might agree. My only other suggestion is that now that you know it is three hours long, that you go in alert and not at all sleepy. It is a thinker and it moves slow for parts and it is hard to focus if you have a belly full of steak.
After that we headed over to the car and Katie drove home (at night and with snow coming down). She did very well and is improving greatly every time she gets behind the wheel. Am I still over cautious and nervous?? Yes but that is just me and really does not have anything to do with her driving.
Once home we learned the Raps lost and we watched some news. I was still feeling very full and just called it a night after popping a few rolaids. All in all a really good night out on the town.
