Instead, here is the reality. Welcome to the next generation of the NBA. Adam Morrison, Jorge Garbajosa, Rudy Gay, Brandon Roy, etc. etc.

This is by far the worst draft class I have seen since I have been watching NBA basketball religiously (14 years). Blame David Stern and his damn age requirement. Blame America’s obsession with ‘The Stache’ and his non-existent defense and horrible shooting percentage. Blame whatever you want.

Okay, so credit Morrison for staying in school for a few years, but the world needs to realize that he is not an NBA-type player. He is tall, that’s it. In a day and age where everyone and their mother can dunk on three guys from the foul line, and even more guys can shut you down on ‘D’, there’s just no room for this guy to be a star. Funny personality? Yes. Awesome at ‘Halo’? Yes. Great player? Never! I can’t believe people thought he’d be a good fit with the Raps!!

This year’s winner of the NBA Rookie of the Year award might need to milk it because they will forever be a trivia question.

Who won the NBA R.O.Y. in the 2006-07 season? Who cares?

Roy and Morrison lead rookies in scoring, followed closely by Andrea Bargnani, but that’s it. Only three guys average more than 10 points per game. Now, Roy has been hurt, and should he get healthy, is a lock to win the award. Bargnani may be the next Dirk Nowitzki (maybe better)? Gay is the next Larry Hughes. J.J. Redick, the USA’s Great White Hope, is averaging just over four points for the Magic. Shelden Williams sucks.

Okay I am done bashing, but seriously, Kevin Brewer from The Washington Times

Said it best, “There is another option for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award — leave it vacant.”
Sorry Raps fans, I still love the team, and they’ll be good for years to come. But, just think what life would be like if Greg Oden had been available in last year’s draft? Hmmmmm.

On a side note, this could be the dumbest forum post ever! This guy is offering some advice to Colangelo to trade Bosh now while the Raps can get good value for him. As a closet Knicks fan, I am embarrassed at his chosen screen name, but read on to get a laugh.
