Okay so they did not quite finish off against the Mavs on Sunday but are you aware that once the calendar turned to 2007, Toronto is one of the best teams in the NBA?? It is true. The Raptors are playing some serious ball and putting together a nice little run that has them looking at the .500 mark very soon.
They are playing as a team and showing that the ACC is a place that is not easy for the road team to steal a win. Their depth is certainly an advantage over most teams and the bench is playing as well as the starters. What other team can bring in a Calderon, MoPete and Bargnani in as the subs? Fred Jones is not even playing anymore and P.J. Tucker has gone to the developmental league. Sam has his lineup set and as long as they are winning you can’t really argue with it.
The big three as they are known now, Bosh, Ford and Parker are giving the team the leadership by example it needs. None of them are big ra ra guys, they just go out and do it. Bosh has been a monster since returning to the team and because of it I think he will lock up the No. 2 forward spot on the All-star team. Quite a feet I think seeing as he plays up in the Great White North. Parker has been a great addition to the team plays very underrated defense. Shame on Bill Simmons of ESPN for calling Parker average earlier in the year.
The real cool thing I have noticed is that for the first time since Vince was Vinsanity, the folks down south are taking notice. I mean Bosh’s All-star votes were a sign but now they are all taking a peak at the Dino’s. They were saying on the broadcast the other night that SI is in town doing a write up on the Raps. I can’t wait to see what Sports Illustrated has to say. Then just this morning I was reading the newly released Power Rankings on ESPN and they have Toronto ranked 9th! That is truly amazing.
The Raps are giving Canadian ballers something to cheer about for the first time since the last time we allowed ourselves to believe that Vince Carter might have some heart.
Tonight Toronto will try to keep the home fans happy again as they host the Utah Jazz. Who by the way are ranked one below them in the 10 spot. The Jazz have always given Toronto fits with their size and shooting. I expect Utah to win but I would hope it is close. This is the game I wrote down for Toronto not to get on their five game homestand. We shall see.
I only wish there were other options for watching the game because I am pretty much tired of Chuck and how much he focuses on non-important stuff. Like his Salami and cheese and when he decides when the Raps are going to win for sure. Just call the game man.
