There is no room on the bandwagon, get your own team!
That is what I am going to be saying as the Toronto Raptors keep winning. Last night they won their fifth in a row and it was ugly but impressive. They beat one of the West’s better teams and they beat Kobe. Even though he came on at the end Kobe Bryant was held in check as the Raps won 96-92. Bosh was awesome again scoring 29 points and have hitting some big shots when needed. Even though Toronto blew a big lead at the end, it was cool to see them shake it off and pull out the win. That is a good test for later in the year when the games mean even more. Parker played solid D on Kobe and MoPete continues to hit huge shots in the clutch.
The Barg continues his chase for rookie of the year and had a great game gunning threes like nobody’s business. They are now four games over the .500 mark and control their own fate. They can only lose the division title now, nobody can really take it from them.
Tonight I don’t expect a sixth win in a row but you never know with this bunch. They are in Detroit to play the other team in the East that has it going on. The Piston since getting Webber are starting to look like the beasts they have been the last few years. Detroit has always given Toronto fits in the past because of their superior guard play but now that we have the two headed monster known as Jose Ford it could be a real battle. Detroit has guys like Rasheed who will do a good job on Bosh so somebody else may have to step up tonight. I am picking AP to have a decent game and possibly Bargnani.
Just to prove the Raps are the cats meow of the NBA right now, check out the front page of ESPN this morning.
Toronto Raptors: After a 2-8 start, Team Canada has left the Titanic wreckage behind with an ideal combination of Bosh, grit, Euro know-how and dynamic point guard play. Someday they may even get on TV. Grade: A
They are the only team in the whole Eastern Conference to get an A. Now that says something don’t you think? The only teams with a higher grade were Dallas and Phoenix and they had an A+. Not to bad considering the Raps almost beat both of those teams this year if they had some better last second luck.
They still are holding down the 8 spot in the daily ESPN power rankings. The next three games will show how far the Raptors have come. Sam Mitchell has to be front-runner for coach of the year at this point of the season. Raptors’ best signing has to be Bryan Colangelo.
It certainly is a good time to be a Raps fan and even sweeter when we look back to where we have come from. Bandwagoners please stay away from me until you endure moments like Kobe dropping 81, watching Hoffa shoot an air ball or Milt Palacio throw away a pass in crunch time. Then you may sit next to me and cheer your heart out.
My friend Al went to the game last night and he sent me some pictures. Man I am jealous, that would of been a good game to go to.
