If you ever need an example that we are far too sensitive to what is on TV, look no further than this story. GM is apparently pulling the ad it ran during the Super Bowl that shows an assembly line robot trying to commit suicide because it dropped a screw.
I saw the commercial and thought it was pretty good. It was cleary stating that GM has very high standards and won’t tolerate anything less. Did it show a human worker getting depressed and consider jumping off a bridge?? No it was a fictional robot because most of us (the ones who complained not included) know that robots don’t have feelings. I mean you could say that Arnold had feelings in T2 but again, not real.
Why does TV keep getting blamed for problems in the world. Suicide is real and of course it is not something you want to promote. But a commercial like that is not something that should be taken as offensive. It is creative and should be applauded for trying something new.
Are you saying you don’t think the Pizza Hut poppers commercial with Jessica Simpson is offensive? I would have to say it is offensive to everone’s eyes and ears. That is just my opinion but I am not staking out the Pizza Hut head office and telling them that.
This is not a new concept but if you don’t like what you see on TV, change the channel or turn it off. Let those of us who do like seeing new and creative things enjoy it.
For those of you who have not seen the commercial, here it is.
Are you off to find the tallest building? Yah, didn’t think so.
