The clock is ticking down to that special day when the dance participants are announced. I am talking of course about the NCAA Final Four selection show. It is an annual event that I have been watching forever it seems. Have some dinner and watch those brackets pop up on the screen with all the excitement of Christmas morning. I admit it was way better back in the day when the Wolverines were always in the tourney but I still love to see who gets seeded where.
Once the show is over and it all settles in it is time to print out several sheets of paper and start the bracketology. I always try to go with my initial picks but I find knowing more hinders picks. You get to the end and look at the breakdown and say to yourself, that is not going to happen. So you start tinkering and before you know it, confusion and doubt set in. This is why I do more than one sheet now. So when the feeling of what did I just do hits me I have that first sheet with my gut picks still there.
Katie was even asking me last night when the brackets are out because she needs time to work on her picks. Ah sorry my dear, you have to deal with the four days that everyone else gets to make their picks.
So here is my early look at who I like since I sit in front of all these TV’s at work all day with College ball pouring into my brain.
Heavy guns
Florida, Ohio State, Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA
Not quite sold on yet
Wisconsin, Pitt, Butler, Nevada
Scary Sleepers
Michigan State, Vanderbilt, Texas, Arizona, Texas A & M
The ususal suspects
Georgetown, Duke, Indiana, Oklahoma State
So there is a headstart for those of you daydreaming at work about brackets and big dance’s and office pools. I would also like to suggest that it is a total crap shoot. So get in a pool and have a blast during the best time of the year to be a college hoops fan.
The Selection show is on March 11 in case you want to check it out.
