I came across this post today over at download squad and it seems like a real long shot for most people.

What would happen if you shut down your computer for just one day? Shutdown Day asks you, and everyone else, to do just that. Almost 10,000 people have already pledged to shun their PCs and internet connections on March 24th, 2007. The video below, created by the Shutdown Day project, gives you a few examples of alternative uses for your laptop (warning, don’t try any of these destructive activities with your actual day-to-day laptop).

What would the global impact actually be if a statistically significant number of Internet users pledged to log-off for one day, and then followed through?

For me I think I could go a day without my pc if I was on vacation but if I was at home it would be very hard. The computer just sitting there, Internet at the ready. Talk about tempting. If I am at work it is of course impossible because I can’t do my job without it but maybe if I am off that day I will give it a try.

March 24th, check back and see how I did. Of course there will be no posts that day but if it is better for the environment I think it is worth a shot.
