It has started to sink into my brain that the day is coming very soon that my trusty friend, my digital camera, is on it’s last legs. The Sony Cybershot that I got many years ago has served me well, created memories from all the great moments and the less than interesting moments from day to day life.

For several months it has been on the fritz, not always ready to perform when called upon but still with some playing around, took the pictures.

The other day at the park, the sun was amazing, the waves were crashing and spring was in the air. I wanted to capture all this but everytime I turned on the camera, all I saw was purple images, flashing lights and sometimes even nothing at all. Now I did manage to take some pictures but I did not get the ones I wanted.

What if out of nowhere a whale shot out of the water and did a triple sow cow and all I got was a purple blob? I would be mad for sure.

So the process has begun of looking into a new camera. An upgrade into the world of lenses and zooms. It would be so easy to go to the store right now and fill the void right away. The Kevin in me certainly wants to. Instead I am going to ride out my current camera until the day it finally rolls over and says enough. In that time I want to save up at least half of the cost of the one I have my eye on and then I will feel comfortable about charging it.

So what camera am I looking at you ask? Well ideally I would love to go SLR but I don’t see myself having that kind of cash for a long time. So I am going to try and go a little more advanced from what I have now but not quite SLR.

I am looking at the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-H5 and really like everything it offers. It has the option of adding other lenses and have very high ratings and reviews on Cnet. So that is the plan for the spring on 2007. I may even start up a photo blog once I have that bad boy to take pics with. We shall see.
