And the first pick in the 2007 NBA Draft is…………..

Greg Oden from Ohio State University!

This topic has been beaten to death all year and Durant’s name should never even be considered here as the No. 1 pick. Yes, he is going to be a very good NBA player but nine times out of 10 you’re going to take Shaq over Kevin Garnett, right?

Oden is not your average seven footer. He is a throw back, old school big man who is going to stay in the paint and punish opponents for 48 minutes in the “L”.

Durant, while dominating the college ranks, will be a good NBA guy, but will be punished trying to guard the Garnett’s, Kobe’s and the like. If you were creating an All-Time college freshman team I’d go with Durant, but honestly, if you are building a franchise around a guy, you have to go with Oden here. He’s a true seven footer, he’s 18 and looks like he’s 38 (that should account for something?) and Scout.com had the guy listed as a lottery pick back in 2004 (his junior year in high school).

So, NBA owners, if you’re listening, take Oden, you won’t be disappointed, trust me!
