So as the regular readers know, I have been unhappy with my camera for quite some time now. The ol’ girl has been dying a slow death for a few months and it has been frustrating to miss out on some shots due to that.
I have been keeping an eye on a new camera for a few weeks and finally yesterday Futureshop had it in. Not only that that had it in a pretty cool bundle that came with a carrying case and a 4GB memory card.
I did not waste anytime booting over to Bayers Lake and picking it up. I am pretty stoked about this new toy.
Before I introduce the new regime in photography I wanted to say something about the old camera.
I want to say thanks to my DSC-P52 Sony Cyber-shot that has been with me for four great years. Those who know me know that I pretty much always have it with me if I leave the house and I have taken many great and memorable pics over the year.
To date that camera has taken 7074 shots and has allowed to me have quite the collection of memories and events on my computer. It is funny, the new software that came with my camera yesterday organizes all your pictures into a calendar so you can look back and see what days you took pictures etc.
Apparently I took over 2000 pictures in 2006, the most of any year so far.
The old camera could possibly be fixed and be used as a nice backup camera or if Katie wants to use it and take it on her travels. It has a recall on it and I think Sony may fix it for free. I just did not want to send it away and be without a camera for God knows how long. So we will see about that. If not it still works, just not when you want it too haha.

Okay, okay on to the new. The new camera is blowing my mind away everytime I use it. The features and the quality are amazing. I am taking pictures right now in 16:9 HD quality, it is crazy!
The new camera is a DSC-H7 Cyber-shot and only behind Katie and Bosco it may be my new favourite thing on this planet.
Here is the rundown since I know folks like Kev will ask.
Whether you’re entertaining on your patio or catching a soccer game, DCS-H7’s Face Detection Technology, supported by the newly incorporated Bionz Imaging Processor, captures the perfect shot every time. Together, the Bionz Imaging Processor and Face Detection Technology, deliver high speed, high accuracy and fast tracking to automatically optimize focusing, exposure and flash control. The result is perfection at every click.
Designed to bring life to your photos, ISO 3200 Sensitivity captures precise details and colours of all your images. Its high shutter speed eliminates distortion caused by unsteady hands and high contrast lighting. Employing a powerful algorithm, Clear RAW NR enhances image quality by reducing image noise; while Sony’s unique Super SteadyShot stabilization system reduces blurring. The Cyber-shot DSC-H7 digital camera delivers the perfect digital image.
