We went to see Spiderman 3 last night so I figured I had to do some kind of review for you all. We caught the early show that started at 7:30pm and I will just list in point form what I thought.

If you have not seen the movie yet and do not want any spoilers, you might not want to read this. 

  • Trailers were not bad, really want to see Knocked up and I am thinking a maybe towards the Bourne Ultimatum.
  • Katie asked if she would be lost without seeing Spiderman 2. I just said all you really need to know is MJ knows that Peter is Spidey. Luckily the opening credits show alot of shots that catch you up on what has gone on.
  • Just like the first two films I have a hard time watching Toby act. I don’t know what it is but something about him just does not work. Ditto for the rest of the cast really.
  • The Sandman explanation was pretty simple and to the point. Sandman was a pretty cool character that I kind of wish gave us more. The villains in these films tend to stand out and this guy did not.
  • The whole meteor with the black creepy crawling stuff. Does anyone know what that was all about? I mean where did it come from etc?
  • There is zero romantic chemistry between Toby and Kirsten.
  • I thought the editor of the paper was a refreshing and funny character. The whole take your pills scene was great.
  • The waiter at the french resto was awesome too.
  • I found some of the fight scenes a little long and jarring. So much flying through the streets could give someone motion sickness. Can’t imagine that on IMAX.
  • I liked how they tried to make Peter/Spidey dark but they did not take it far enough. Just giving him bangs and  dancing down the street did not cut it. I mean he did hurt MJ’s feelings but it was like a really good guy just pretending to be bad. If the suit changed him he would of been a real bad boy.
  • Did anyone else find it funny that the school teacher did not question where Peter got that black stuff?
  • Those omelettes they were making looked tasty.
  • The ending was kind of long and did not do much.
  • The black spiderman suit was pretty cool but why did it cover Spiderman in a black spiderman suit?
  • Topher was okay but I think he was kind of like what bad ass Peter Parker should of been.
  • What was with Topher’s teeth when he got consumed with the black stuff?

All in all I would have to say it was what I expected going in. Nothing great but a good movie to see on the big screen. I liked the second film of the three the most and that was because of the villains. William Dafoe and Alfred Molina can act and they added a lot to their characters. I guess I secretly wish they could go back in time and recast the whole thing. Spiderman would of been better with an unknown acter (although I guess Toby was not much when this all started) and the bad guys could of been given to stronger actors that could of added a lot more to the roles. The ending was a little weak as Sandman just vanished into thin air and there was no real ending with Peter and MJ, or at least there did not feel like one.
