We took to the ice last night and watched Blades of Glory. Overall it was exactly what I thought it would be. Quite a few laughs but nothing memorable. The cast was solid but like most of the other Will Ferrell sports movies, the joke is funny for the first 30 minutes but they keep going to the same joke over and over and it dies.

It certainly is a movie for people who don’t want to think and just enjoy a movie. I really liked the brother, sister team of Will Arnett and Amy Poehler. The rap dance was great.

I did get a kick out of seeing all the old figure skating stars like when Will hit on Nancy Kerrigan.

As a sports watcher I also enjoyed how much of a fool Jim Lampley made himself out to be as an annoucer. He was great even saying “I think I just peeed my pants. ”

Easily better than the Ricky Bobby movie, this sports comedy does score some laughs but is nothing to reserve a night for. Check it out when you have nothing better to do or just want to relax at home.
