JPod to become television series
Posted by Cuzzy as The Office, tv showsAfter I read Douglas Coupland’s JPod I knew it would come to TV one day. It is ideal for a show and with good writing and adapting of the novel I predict it could be a hit. The success of The Offce, although not really the same, will certainly help the average Joe be interested.
My one fear, it is going to be on the CBC and they generally cancel good shows long before they should. The Newsroom was legendary and was one of my favourite shows for a few years and it just got canned.
As for JPod, the 13-part series will be a look into Vancouver’s video game industry and is scheduled to air on CBC Television in January 2008.
The show’s pilot was produced November 2006 by Larry Sugar and directed by Mike Clattenburg of Trailer Park Boys.
The comedy series is expected to incorporate Coupland’s witty take on corporate culture and has been compared to the TV series Weeds or Arrested Development.
JPod’s cast will include Emilie Ullerup, Steph Song and Alan Thicke. That is my only beef so far, I just can’t picture Alan Thicke being good.
