Good morning everyone, I am up bright and early since it was hard to sleep as Katie was getting ready to head to Saint John. Not her fault of course, just a lot of stuff going on very early in the morning and once I am awake I have to get up. Wanted to catch you up on yesterday since I coined it The day of days. It was one of those perfect days where a lot of good went on and it made for a great day in Halifax.
- Katie was awake and up before me, my first sign that this day would be out of the ordinary.
- We got dressed and walked down to the water to check out the Tall Ships festival. It was pretty foggy but it was okay and it meant that it was not packed yet. Keep in mind this was at 10:30 AM. Pictures can be seen here.
- We walked the waterfront checking out the boats and trying not to think of food just yet. We commented to each other at how many people were stuffing their face with fatty and greasy food so early. The smell was good and bad all at the same time.
- The ships were great to see up close and we could of paid to go aboard but I did not feel the need to go hands on. Taking pictures and walking by was working well enough.
- Once we got to the end we headed back and noticed it was much busier so we detoured up to the street and headed out to find some brunch.
- Keeping in tune with the Tall Ships theme we went to the Bluenose Diner and had a pretty typical brunch. Katie was not as hungry as normal so I ended up having 1 1/2 brunches so that was a bonus. It was entertaining/awkward because the group that was seated just after us still did not have their food as we left and they were getting testy.
- We walked home taking a break so I could do the traditional trip up and down Citadel Hill as Katie took pictures from the bottom. I had my workout for the day.
- We stopped at Needs for some supplies and were home by 1:15pm. Already a great day but there was so much more.
- We are heading to Calgary at the end of August for a wedding and have been putting off buying the tickets just because it hurts so much to throw down that kind of cash. We finally did it and were we happy. Turns out they were having a seat sale and adding the discount we were already getting that the wedding couple set up we robbed Westjet it felt like. I won’t say a price but we are talking a savings of hundreds of dollars. Day of days!
- As if written in a script from here the day got even better. The forecast was calling for rain and gloom but just as I was debating what to do next the sky opened up and sun beamed down. I cut the grass and by the time I was done it was a beautiful day.
- That meant it was lazy backyard time. I set up the hammock, got a mag and made a drink. Katie and Bosco joined me for some sun and we must of spent the next two hours out there vegging, catching rays and reading. Now that is a Sunday afternoon.
- Next after Katie had a nap (earned for being up early and all the walking) it was dinner time. What better way to eat on the day of days than a bbq meal.
- I grilled up some pork chops and cooked up some rice and called it dinner! Very good and pretty easy to prepare.
- After this we were feeling like we needed a different way to cap off our meal so we got in the car and went for a drive in search of ice cream. We ended up at Point Pleasant Park and grabbed a cone at the store across from the parking lot. It was the perfect ending for the day of days I would have to say. We drove home for an evening of relaxation.
- While Katie caught up with her parents on the phone I played a few rounds of X-box golf. There was only one thing left on the docket for the day. Katie had to try on her dress for the pre mentioned Calgary wedding.
- She was nervous and I was indifferent but nervous! Well it fit and looked really good so all ended well!

I would have to say that was one of the better Sundays in a long time and I can’t wait for more days like it.
