Yesterday’s rain turned out to be today’s gain. It poured on and off all day yesterday and it was a nice, relaxing day on Kline. Today I woke up pretty early and saw sun gleaming through the crack in the drapes. So I got up and did my usual peek out the window to see how the day looked. It was then that I saw something very interesting.

The people across the street have been in the process of moving, I know this because there was one of those giant moving trucks there in the week. So I noticed that the guy was moving more stuff out onto his lawn and there was some real nice stuff. I kept an eye on the situation just to determine whether he was putting stuff out to move or if he was selling. Once another neighbour went out to ask the same thing it was clear he was selling. So I tossed on some clothes and a ball hat and went over to check it out. From the house I could see a lot of plants and some nice chairs.

Once over the road it was a bonanza of low low prices and stuff that I actually wanted. It was mainly the plants that I had my eye on since I still hate that I had to give away close to 20 plants when I left Toronto. Anyone who has lived with me or has been to any of my places knows I like to be surrounded by green. I can hear Lindsay making some smart remark as I type this.

So the chairs, they were black outdoor chairs that looked really comfy and well they were $2.50 each. Sold! Then I picked up three plants and was on my way. Man what a bargain I have to say. Still in the glow of my purchases I came home and had to wake up Katie to tell her. There were other things to buy, more plants and even a bike that I thought she may like. It turns out it was a kids bike but the price was certainly right.

After she dismissed me and promised to get up soon I went about my morning but I kept looking out the window to see what was gone. There were these two large plants in silver planters that I really wanted but they were $15 each and to be honest I did not want to break them up.

Once Katie was up and we were cooking breakfast (raspberry pancakes and bacon) I kept looking to see if the plants were still there. Finally once it was close to noon and the party looked like it was over I went back over to see what was left.

The guy was like, everything is discounted and I said I was really interested in the big plants. Then he flat out says, you can have all the plants for $10. I was pretty excited so I went over to the store to get some cash and came back. I felt bad for taking so much for $10, so I gave him $15 and he even tossed in a green plant shelf thing that I have since assembled and it is in the living room with all the new vegetation. Score!

I was pretty jazzed with the deals and it overflowed into the whole day. A friend of ours came over and we drove out to Hemlock Ravine Park and had a good hike with the dog and a great catch up chat. We also saw some deer and did a little off-roading so Bosco could go for a swim. After a good hour hike we came back and hit Timmy’s for some refreshments and then the backyard to relax and sit in the new chairs. They are pretty comfy and match the table. How cool is that!

Then before I called home to check in I saw one more thing on the curb that I wanted across the street. It was a small table that I grabbed and is now in between the two chairs in the back. Katie even wants to paint or stain it someday. I smell a trip to the Tire.

Now we are just relaxing on this cool day and getting ready to grill up some dinner. Very nice weekend, you can never have enough of those. Tomorrow is back to the work thing for a few days before vacation for both of us. Now that will be fun.

So all in all, a good day with some great deals and who knew that yesterday’s rain would be today’s gain.

I can’t wait until next weekend, maybe there will be some more deals to be found.
