Day 4 ( Sept 1)
Well I do not know how to top the previous day now that the wedding is over. What a great day and it was still fresh in our minds as well woke up on Saturday. Another sunny and beautiful day in Golden and there were still two days left to do whatever we wanted.
The plan for Katie and I was pretty simple, we were going to wait around for Jesse and Kate to show. That is right, Katie’s brother who lives on Vancouver Island altered their travel plans to come meet up with us. Thank you Kate for putting that into motion, it was so nice to see you guys.
The day began with a festive brunch for all who attended the wedding. It was the usual brunch fare, eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. All that stuff that we needed after a night of partying. The chatter was of course about the night before and it was fun to catch up with those who we may of missed at the wedding. It was also fun to see how tired and wrecked some of the late risers looked.
With a full belly I did not have a lot of energy so it worked out well that Katie and I hung out on our porch most of the afternoon watching people go by and chatting with all who passed. Based on our location we knew what everyone was doing and we became kind of a message board for those looking to make plans.
Some went hiking, some went frisbee golfing and some just chilled out in the hot tub. We had friends popping in to visit and have a drink for most of the afternoon when finally around 4pm Jesse and Kate drove in.
We visited, had some drinks and went for a walk around the area to show Jesse. Kate had to do some work, boooo but when we came back we hung out some more.
The plan was to go out for dinner with everyone in Golden so since we had the biggest balcony Katie invited everyone over for pre-cocktails since there was a lot of booze left and nobody could really take it home.
So from 7pm-8:15pm we hung out and had drinks before going out for dinner. The place we went was an amazing restaurant called Eleven 22 and if you are ever in the area this place is a must visit. A trendy refurbished house with cool art on the wall and food that was amazing. I had chicken curry that was tasty and filling. Dinner went late and it kind of finished most of us off after a long day. Back to the hotel for one last party.
Once back at the room before heading over to the party, Jesse and Kate took care of their sleeping arrangements. They had planned on camping in the area but instead of that they ended up setting up their tent right on our balcony. Okay so maybe it was not the most legal thing to do but it was certainly the easiest. I think it will go down as one of the best side stories from the whole trip. Jesse, Kate and Indy all snuggled up out on our porch with the moon shining down on them. Talk about a way to start their trip.
With the last bit of energy we had, we went over to the party to have some drinks and say goodbyes. Broccoli was a hit and everyone seemed ready to head home the next day. We stayed for about an hour before once again passing out in the room for a great sleep in the mountains.
