I got a chance to see some of the Emmy’s on Sunday night and it got me thinking how the awards would of been handed out if I was doing the voting. We all know it is all about me right.
Best Drama Series - It was the most obvious award of the night with the Sopranos winning. Based on the other shows in the group I think they deserved it even without the “Thanks for everything” vote. I had this creepy feeling that Boston Legal was going to ruin the whole thing but I am sure the voting commitee realized that nobody watches it.
Best Comedy Series - Have to fully agree with the Emmy’s on this one as well. I love The Office and Entourage but 30 Rock might be the funniest show on TV and it is so well done. I wanted Tracey Morgan to go crazy but they must of had him on some serious downers last night. Kind of sad not to see Alec there but I get the sense he just shows up to work, does a great job and goes home.
Best Actor, Drama - Are you kidding? James Spader won the “Monk” award of the night by knocking off much better talent. I wanted to hear Dennis Leary give a speech and go off on some rant. I would of been fine with Gandolfini or the House dude but James Spader?? I still have to get over this one.
Best Actress, Comedy - All I have to say is they all just wanted to celebrate America. I will never get why Ugly Betty is good or funny but I guess millions of people think otherwise. I would of picked Tina Fey easily in that one.
Best Actress, Drama - I have never seen the show Brothers and Sisters mostly due to my fear of Rachel Griffiths. Her Six Feet Under character still creeps me out and therefore I have no idea if Sally Field is good or not. I would of gone with Minnie and her awesome character from The Riches.
Best Actor, Comedy - This award was the most bittersweet to watch. I loved that Ricky won for Extras but it sucked that he was not there. Luckily The Daily Show reunion tour made up for it with a great group hug and screaming. Can we have a show where Jon, Steve and Stephen all work together again?? Somewhere Alec Baldwin was pissed.
I did not see any of the show before this so I will quicky say I was pulling for Kevin Dillon. The thought of hearing him scream “Victory” would of made the show. Oh and where were all the awards for John From Cincinnati?? Ha ha I jest.
Other highlights
- The whole Kanye West thing was great and it was nice to see him actually laugh and make fun of himself.
- The TV rant by Lewis Black.
- Seacrest of course.
- Katherine Heigl mom jokes.
- Always wondering how much it must of sucked to sit in the crowd behind all the action.
- No way in hell that mom’s would have a war.
- Al Gore’s tears as a usuable energy source.
- Brad Garrett’s “view”.

I think we need to work on the al gore tears thing, it just might work. I’m pretty certain that he found a way to power a computer for 3,000 hours off of energy provided by the beard he had a few years back.
