On a recent trip out to Long Lake Park to walk the dog I noticed a bunch of downed tree branches that were bright red on the ends? Was this paint so people would not walk into them? Was it natural for a tree to be red under the bark?

It made me think of CSI and how the branch could of been used to run through an elephant. Then again the odds of an elephant in Halifax are as good as Mayor Peter Kelly looking confident.
