Raptors 106 Sixers 97
Last night the Raps got the season underway with a win over Philly in front of the fans at the ACC. I was working so I did not get to see as much of the game as I could but I did have it on. The Raptors built their lead up to 22 points at one point and I figured it was over. Of course Toronto always has a way of making it a little more interesting.
Andrea Bargnani scored 20 points and continued his strong preseason play, showing fans this could be a huge year.
T.J. Ford had 14 points and 12 assists, while Chris Bosh scored 16 points, and Anthony Parker and Jose Calderon finished with 13 apiece.
Andre Iguodala led the 76ers with 23 points, while Kyle Korver had 20.
The Sixers cut a 22-point, third-quarter deficit to 14 heading into the fourth quarter, then pulled to 90-89 on a running jump shot by Iguodala with 4:47 left.
Bargnani answered with a 3-pointer and was fouled by Samuel Dalembert. He made the free throw for just the 14th four-point play in franchise history. That put Toronto back up by five.
This money shot was the play of the game and it kept the Sixers at bay. I was a little nervous but a little stress is a good thing. The team was tested and they showed some “onions” as Chuck likes to say.
