Toronto at New Jersey 7:30pm ET, Raptors TV
Crap.
Okay it is only the second game of the season and I am already feeling the stress and nerves of the NBA. Toronto will take on their evil nemisis the New Jersey Nets tonight in the swamp. In the big picture the game means little but as a scorned Raptors fan I want retribution God damnit!
I want the boys to come out breathing fire against Vince and his crew of ballers. I want someone to take a lead pipe to Jason Kidd’s knee, now that is what I really want.
As good as Toronto has become and as excited I am about their future it will be the next two games that could set a tone for the season. After playing the Nets tonight they will play the Celtics on Sunday afternoon at the ACC. Cleary these three clubs will be the ones fighting for the Atlantic Division crown and the early season games will give the fans a good idea how the Raps matchup.
Bargs and Bosh will have to play at their best tonight and the two-headed guard of Ford and Calderon will have to cancel out J-Kidd’s game.
The Nets have gotten better and much deeper than last year. No more spagetti hair Mikki Moore and instead a little Canadian content with Jamaal Magloire on the blocks.
I was impressed how the Raptors recovered the other night against Philly even though they should never blow a 22-point lead. It shows some onions and it shows they can fight through the struggles to still win. The Raptors of old would of folded up like the cardboard I put out for recycling each week.
The Raps have lost six straight games in New Jersey, including three playoff games. Even though I think it will be a tight game I have a feeling the Nets will pull out tonight’s game in the fourth.
Don’t hate me for saying it but the Nets will win 99-92,
