I have so many things I have been meaning to blog about the thought of doing a post for each is a little scary. So I am going to just throw them all into one. Deal with it!
The “not so” Superstore
We generally go to the Atlantic Superstore on Quinpool because it is close and we like the PC products. Over the last week I have been thinking more and more about going back to Sobey’s. Why do grocery stores have to move stuff around? The last few times there I have had a frustrating time finding a few of the staples. I went there again yesterday and I still could not find those same goods and there were a few more added to the list.
The kind of bagels we like are missing in action, the frizante that Katie drinks has vanished and the PC jumbolaya I think has been discontinued.
I could not even find the right kind of canned tomato sauce because the shelves were empty. Anyways not a big deal just an annoying grocery shopping trip.
Is it Christmas already?
I am a big fan of the Christmas season. Even I am kind of rolling my eyes at the “season” beginning on November 1st. This is way to early for commercials, music is stores and even decorating. It sucks all the life out of Christmas because by the time Christmas is actually here you are so sick of it you can’t wait for it to end. Can’t we go back to December 1st? I saw gingerbread houses for sale yesterday! Another 10 years and we will start to get ready before the kids go back to school.
Hard to make fire without wood
Three weeks ago I called All Season Firewood, a company in the yellow pages that sells firewood and delivers it to Halifax. The price seemed right and they said it would be next week. Every week that I called they said it would be next week. Finally they called on Monday of this week and we arranged a delivery today (Wednesday)
Both Katie and I were very excited and I was off today so it worked out perfect. Not knowing when they were coming I was up at 8am getting set to bring it all in the house. I spent the morning waiting, looking out the window and doing what I could in the house. I did not want to leave so I would not miss them. Bosco was getting moody that he had to wait for a walk.
Noon rolled around and no sign of the wood people. I called and this is how it went.
Wood lady: Hello
Me: Hi I was supposed to get a delivery today and I was just wondering if there was an update on when it was coming.
WL: Where was it to?
Me: Halifax, (my address)
WL: Oh that is not coming today I never heard back from you to confirm.
Me: We talked about this on Monday when you called. We agreed on today.
WL: Oh we must not of gotten your message.
Me: I spoke to you directly, we agreed on today.
WL: Oh we must of got our lines crossed. Oh well, can you be there to get it tomorrow?
Me: No I am not here tomorrow or Friday, I waited around already today for it. I don’t understand how this happened.
WL: Well we can certainly bring it tomorrow.
Me: I am not here tomorrow and to be honest I am going to cancel the order all together.
WL: Ok sorry you…………………..I hung up.
This does not even come close to show how angry and frustrated I was. This woman sounded so out of it did not care at all that she messed up. I get so angry when people waste my time like I had nothing better to do than sit around all morning and wait for them.
Now we have to find wood from somewhere else. Oh well I could not deal with that lady anymore.
Three and a half men
Yep if you add Two and a Half Men and me together that is what you get. I have become a little hooked on watching reruns of the show based on the movie About a Boy. It is filling the hole in my day like Seinfeld or CSI used to. My mum will remember way back when I used to watch Cheers five times a day and could tell what episode it was about two seconds in. There is something about sitcom reruns that allows you to watch them over and over even though you have seen them. Mindless time I guess.
