Weather is not so bad today, I think it may go over 10 Celcius at some point.

Here are just a few things on my mind as I wake up.

We were thinking Arby’s

Last night the plan was to pick Katie up from work because of the cold and rainy weather. As the time approached I was getting pretty hungry and nothing we had in the kitchen was doing it for me. I thought of maybe fast food for dinner but I have not really been in a fast food place lately. I started thinking what do I really want that is cheap and tasty. Then an outlined hat appeared over my head. Yes it was the Arby’s symbol.

Why was this a big deal? Well there is not an Arby’s in Halifax and the closest one is in Bedford which is a 15 minute drive or so. I ran it by Katie and she was on board and very excited.

I picked her up, we drove down the dark and rainy Bedford Highway and finally we saw the ray of light at the end, the Arby’s.

I was so hungry I could here my stomach jumping up and down with excitement.

We dined, we smiled and we were very happy with the food. I have not had Arbys in years and that added to the experience.

Flying on an empty ship

British Airways is shuttling dozens of empty planes across the Atlantic because it has a shortage of cabin crew, it has emerged.

The “phantom” services have been flying between Britain and Canada and the US over the past two weeks in order to retain valuable slots at London’s airports.

Several BA passenger flights took off without a single passenger, using up thousands of tonnes of jet fuel.

This is shocking to me. I can’t even count the waste involved. Money to buy the fuel and the damage to the environment. Can you imagine if you had been recently laid off by them and you find out they are spending thousands of dollars on flights they don’t need to make.

Loonie ups and downs

The hot topic in Canada is the Loonie and how much it is worth and how far it will go when spending it. It is slowly going back down and I would not be getting to excited about saving all this money cross-border shopping. There have been numerous stories on how you do save some money but in the end it is not much. Consider the travel costs, eating costs and paying duty on the items you buy and really it would have been just as easy to buy it in Canada.

I realize you can find some great deals but overall I don’t think it is worth the hassle.

By early next year I am sure everything will be back to normal and we will be back to paying high prices for everything.
