I know it seems odd to give an update on my mum’s visit so far because she is the one that would be checking. Anyways just wanted to catch everyone up on the fun so far so I do not forget. It has only been just over a day so I know there will be a lot more to come.
Friday
- My mum got to the house just after 5pm Friday after a smooth fight from Hamilton. She was surprised at home large the Halifax airport actually was.
- Once at the house Katie and my mum hung out and had a tea and rested after they both had long days for various reasons. I was at work so I would have to wait to get in on the fun.
- The two ladies went out to dinner at the Five Fisherman downtown. From what I heard they had a lot of fun talking and eating some of the best seafood in the city. They both could not even finish the large helpings but said the food was great.
- Once I got home we caught up, chatted and had tea while watching the end of the Raptors game. It was a funny moment to walk in the door and see both of them in the living room watching basketball.
- After the news we called it a night and went to sleep.
Saturday
- Bosco was not letting anyone sleep. So my mum and I were up at 8amish and got the day going with a cup of tea.
- After that we got dressed and headed down to the market to give my mum another traditional Halifax experience.
- It was already packed at 9am so we did the tour and picked up a few things and left. My mum really liked the place and I know she would like to go back again and again.
- We drove around a bit and came home to wake Katie up so we could have brunch.
- I cooked up eggs and bacon and we had a relaxing dine on Kline as mum sat at the table staring out the front window at all that was going on.
- After food we all got ready and got in the car and headed out to Bedford for a drive and to hit the mall there. My mum and dad thought they had been to Beford before when they visited last but they had actually not gone all the way. So my mum was happy to check out the place. We hit the mall and the fancy Pete’s Froutique.
- This may be my mum’s favorite place so far. All the british food and imported goods, she was picking up stuff everywhere. We picked up some snacks for home like cheese and crackers and these flax chips that are very tasty if you can believe it.
- We toured the mall, went to the book store and we looked at cell phones. Fun little trip out to Bedford.
- Once home it was snacking, tea and lazy time for the afternoon. We watched TV and read the paper and ate a lot of snacks.

- Katie went to read, my mum fell asleep and I went upstairs to catch up on some TV shows.
- While everyone was semi-sleeping I then went down to Quinpool because I needed to get fish food. That is all I should of picked up but of course I had to get something else. I walked by the gas station and they had bags of firewood for sale. I paid for one and got out to pick it up and it was way heavier than I estimated. So I carried it home. Bad idea. I am still feeling sore from that one.
- Anyways we had a toasty fire all night so that worked out.
- Next up drinks and dinner. We were going to go check out the Halifax Christmas parade but we all decided to skip that one and stay in.
- I made mojitos for everyone and then I went to make some dinner. We had Cuzzydillas and for those of you who have had they, they did not disappoint. Katie and mum had some left over that got wrapped up for another time. We had some wine and chilled out in front of the fire for the night not doing much of anything.
- We all got dozy and one by one went to bed.
Sunday
- Up pretty early again. Tea and sitting around to start the day.
- Once Katie was up we all got ready and headed downtown to have some brunch.
- We went to Cora’s and gave mum another Halifax experience, waiting for food.
- After a 25-30 minute wait we were in!
- Breakfast was very good. Mum and I had the classic Cora’s special. .We are all pretty full.
- After that we went next door to the Halifax Pete’s Froutique and of course mum loved it again. She could not help herself from buying more stuff.
- On the way home my eagle-eyes noticed that someone had put wood out to the curb for garbage. We went back and got it and it made for an afternoon of cozy fire.
- With a fire going and snacks for eating we sat and watched the Raptors game. My read, Katie did computer stuff and I watched with disdain. Once the end came we were all getting mad at the TV and yelling at the Raps poor fourth quarter play.
- For the rest of the afternoon we just lazed around.
- For dinner we drove down to the Henry House and had a nice pub dinner with a warm fire very near. I had a burger, mum had fish and chips and Katie had a salmon sandwich. Once again we left VERY full.
- Not much to report from the evening. Katie got ready to go to Saint John and Mum and I watched TV.
Monday
- I worked all day so my mum had a nice day napping, reading and hanging out with Bosco.
- She did pickle some beets for Katie.
- I came home for dinner and we had a pizza.
- Not much else really to report from this day.
Tuesday
- Up bright and early and off to the mall.
- My mum had to get her watch that she got for retirement adjusted. It was from Birk’s and Halifax has one.
- I got a new battery for my watch as well.
- We went to Canadian Tire and picked up my christmas present from my parents. A fancy new oil filled heater. It is amazing.
- We had lunch at the Greek House on Quinpool before heading home. Oh we did pick up some stuff at the grocery store for dinner.
- The rest of the day was all about relaxing. My mum read and I caught up on some TV shows.
- In the evening we had cocktails, a fire and I cooked up some buttered chicken.
- The Raptors ended the night and we watched them lose to Dallas. Bummer.
Wednesday
- Cooked up some eggs and bacon to start the day off right.
- Took Bosco over to Seaview Park for a run around and my Mum got to see the water and the bridge. Very Sarnia like.
- We had a nice lunch and hung out before it was time to hit the airport.
- The airport run was smooth and my Mum was off back to Ontario after a few trip.
Here is the picture video to wrap it all up. Yes I know there is a spelling mistake in the slate, oh well.
