Memphis at Toronto 7pm ET
I feel like Spanish tonight, like Spanish tonight! Well what do you know, it is. Tonight at the ACC everyone will be collecting a Calderon or Garbo bobble-head in honour of the Raps two star Spaniards. Granted Garbo won’t be there but it seemed like a good idea at the time. Over on the Grizzlies bench they have Pau Gasol and Juan Carlos Navarro.
But just like the last few games, tonight once again could belong to the little Spanish Flea as I like to call him. Jose Calderon has been on fire since T.J. Ford went down with a stinger. The situation is showcasing one of the best assets and biggest potential problems for the Raps.
On the good side, no other team can lose their starting point guard and bring in the backup without losing a beat. On the bad side, every other team in the league without a quality point guard will be calling BC and saving their cash for the offseason. I don’t really see a way for the Raps to keep Jose after this year so I say enjoy him while he is here.
Enjoy is Spanish passion, enjoy his amazing assists to turnover ratio and hell even enjoy those pencil thin sideburns he has going on.
Calderon is expected to make his fourth straight start tonight and I say bring it. Calderon’s first start of the season came last Wednesday against Memphis, and he had 10 points and eight assists in the Raptors’ 95-89 victory.
With Bosh rounding into All-Star form, Ja-Mario Le-Moon rockin the ACC and Calderon running the show I don’t see anyway the Grizz can win tonight.
Well unless the Raptors revert to the stinkers we have seen this year already when we figured they were a lock. Yes I boasted to my girlfriend and mother that the Raps were a lock against the Warriors a few Sundays ago. Whatever it sounded cool.
Toronto wins the Spanish inquisition pulling away late for a 114-105 win.
Take that one to the bank and exchange it for Canadian funds.
