Last night we watched Waitress starring Keri Russell, Nathan Fillion, Cheryl Hines, Jeremy Sisto, and Andy Griffith.
It has been getting a lot of buzz and it also has a tragic tale attached to it.
The acceptance of Waitress into the 2007 Sundance Film Festival was bittersweet because writer/director Adrienne Shelly was murdered before learning the news.
The movie is about Jenna, who is trapped in a crappy marriage and works at a pie shop. She lives for making pies and they sure looked good. There was this one she made with eggs and ham and brie that I wanted to reach in the TV and grab.
Anyways, Jenna gets pregnant from the jerk husband and meets a new doctor in the process. Her and the new doctor spark up a new relationship and she has her eyes opened to a new life worth living.
The acting was strong and there were a lot of subtle funny moments. I laughed everytime the husband pulled up and had to honk the car constantly to let people know he was coming.
I have not wanted a pie to be waiting for me in the kitchen so much after seeing this film and I have always been a fan of Keri Russell. I was waiting for her to start talking into a mic, “Dear Sally…..”.
I recommend this film because it was a feel good movie and it had a lot of subtle laughs. Besides who can say no to pie?
Here is the trailer
