The day started pretty early as Katie had to go into work for half of the day. I could not get back to sleep once she left so I
read for a bit until Bosco woke me up. A winter storm had hit us over night so Katie got to experience her first winter driving by herself as she took the car to work.

She did fine, got to feel the breaks grind a little and jumped in head first. Way to go Katie

I was once again the first person on our street to shovel the sidewalk and then I played with Bosco in the driveway since there was no car in the way.

Once all of the outside stuff was done I had some time to fill before Katie was home at noon. I caught up on some house cleaning and throwing stuff out. I always need a day to get all organized and take care of some clutter. It just makes me feel more relaxed in the house.

Once Katie was home we went down to the Q and had some Wendy’s for lunch before heading over to Video Difference to get some flicks for the night.

We picked up Death of a President and Bon Cop, Bad Cop. After a quick strike of the Superstore we were home for an afternoon of relaxing and eating.

I watched some TV while Katie had a small nap before the evening festivities began.

We stayed in and just had a relaxing night by ourselves. The weather was not great and to be honest I find low-key New Years Eves to be the best. We had booze, food, entertainment and a roaring fire going. What more do you need?

For dinner it was a bit of an appetizer festivus. There were leftover sausage rolls, burritos, buttered chicken and some mozza sticks. It certainly filled us up and the wine and beer were the perfect compliment.

After dinner I put on some tunes and we hung out and had a game of scrabble.

Katie was leading for most of the game and then I pulled ahead to stay at the end. She was not very happy.

I wanted to be cool and spell out Happy New Year on the board for a picture but then we discovered we were missing a P.

Can you buy lone scrabble tiles?? I hope so or we may have to make once out of cheese or something.

The wine and music soon got Katie in a better mood but she does hate to lose at the game of words.

Bosco was in party mode and very happy. Earlier in the day I was moving some stuff around and we found one of his old balls under the chair. He seemed to like this and acted as if we found one of his old friends.

If you are wondering how he brought in the New Year at the stroke of midnight, he was sleeping in the chair. What a wild guy eh?

At this point we were gearing up for movie time. The Raptors game was on but I was not going to watch it since that is not really that exciting for Katie. The things I do eh? haha.

Even though there was very little room in our stomachs we did manage to enjoy some dessert. One of those chocolate tarts that President’s Choice has been telling us about for a month. It was very tasty and rich.

Okay finally snacks were gathered and a fresh beer was open, it was time to watch a movie.

We watched Death of a President. It was a movie last year that came out with some serious controversy. It is all about the assassination of George W. Bush and I had to keep reminding myself that it was fake.

It was done as if it was a doc and it was very well done. A lot of tension and I can picture that being how the scenario would go down if that ever did happen.

I can see why the Bush camp did not like it very much though. Not really a light and happy NYE movie but I thought it was very well done and I would recommend it.

Here is the trailer.

After the movie we were pretty tired and hanging on for midnight. We could of been out partying like the people across the road. A limo showed up for them.

We flipped around watching the various countdown shows and I kept wondering why there was not much going on except for the local station. Then I remembered we are an hour ahead haha.

So we watched the cheese Halifax countdown and celebrated 2008 beginning.

After that we made our way to bed to watch all American countdowns with Seacrest and Deeley fighting it out in Times Square.

I found it kind of sad and hard to watch as Dick Clark did the countdown. He is getting too old to be doing it and I hope that they pass the torch soon to someone else.

3-2-1, Happy New Year Eastern time zone.

3-2-1 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz was me.

Happy New Year one and all.
