Hello all from job hunting land. How is everything on the outside world?
I was just thinking to myself that the week is flying by fast. Hard to believe it is Wednesday already.
I have had some feedback on places I have contacted so far. Nothing really open right now but I am in the door at least for keeping in touch for anything that does open up. I may even get some freelance work if I am lucky.
There has been no word back from the actual postings that I sent info in for but they just closed on Friday so it could be some time.
Yesterday the final package came from work that had my last two pay stubs, my tax info and my record of employment. The last document is key since I was able to file for my UI online. Today I just have to take the paper work into the office and my claim will be processed. Any money will help at this point even though I am pretty good for the time being.
It can be a bit of a letdown each day going over the same sites and finding no new postings but it is all about being ready and on top of something when it shows.
I have applied for at least one job everyday I have looked so that is a good thing. I have added a few sites here and there to the growing list and that is a good sign as well. There are a lot of businesses out here that don’t really post jobs and you have to find them on the websites.
So what have I been doing to fill the rest of the day?
There has been snow shoveling, reading, television and of course the day-to-day management of the house etc. Bosco makes a lot of mess so it is nice to have the time to clean it up.
Most importantly I try to stay relaxed and try to enjoy the time off. Most people do not get this kind of time to catch up on sleep and recover from all the weeks and years of doing the daily grind.
Katie has been working really hard lately and doing a lot of driving for work and it does not seem fair that I am so well rested and she is so worn out. Oh well things will even up soon enough when I find something and look back at these days and actually miss them.
The blogs are great for keeping my mind off of the job hunt and really the blogs are adding to my resume all the time. I learn a lot of skills that may not seem that apparent by just blogging everyday. I am sure they show an employer something about my job skills other than I have a love of the Raps.
It is time to start another day. The sites have been checked and now I have a small list to go out and take care before having a quiet afternoon.
Hope everyone is having a great day themselves.
