Atlanta at Toronto 7pm ET
*****I just want to mention to my mother, the game is not on regular TV.*****
As long as the Raptors avoid the flailing arms of Al Horford, this game should be a win. But with the Raptors a win on paper is never an automatic win on the court. Fans, you know what I am talking about.
Atlanta is one of those teams that is like a fire that is always about to go out. If you keep breathing life into the embers, it just might spark and erupt.
The Hawks are young and athletic but they are not the same young and athletic as the Portland Trail Blazers luckily. The Hawks don’t have “the man” yet and until they do they won’t jump up the standings.
Joe Johnson and Josh Smith can kill you on any given night but they can also kill their own team.
The boys from H0t-lanta may also get up for actually playing in front of a crowd. Back home I think they are getting used to playing in front of nobody. Who knows.
With all that being said, if the Raptors play their game and do everything they are supposed to, this will be a win.
Bosh and Calderon are playing out of this world over the last few weeks and all they really need is a third player to shine for a win.
Lately the two prime suspects to be #3 is Parker and Delfino.
AP is starting to look for his shot more and I say do it. The guy can put in in the bucket and I think he needs to be a liitle more selfish especially when Bosh is out of the game. Parker is fourth in the league in three pointers and is really starting to drive a lot more.
Carlos “Vidal Sassoon” Delfino is hot again. He had a good two week stretch earlier in the season where everything he tossed up went in. The fans assumed this was the norm and were confused when he went down a notch. Well he is back.
His slashing and long-range accuracy is helping the Raps win some games. I can’t remember a Raptors player that I was so black and white on when he shoots. Lately I know it is going in and I add it to the board before it even passes through the net.
One comment before I move on. Can Chuck stop making Joe Dumars sound like a moron when he says the Pistons flat out gave Delfino away. Detroit knows they did, they did not get duped. It was almost a personal favour to Carlos and I think that is cool when GMs do that kind of thing for the greater good.
As I mentioned off the top, the game is only on RaptorsTV so I will be spending my evening doing something else. I don’t really feel the need to sit and watch the Hawks. They are one of those teams that I just don’t like watching. I never have since Nique left. I will watch the highlights after the game and see everything I need to see.
Besides who really wants to see Sheldon Williams do his best alien impersonation anyways.
Raps win 102-95 and for the love of God I hope Bargs puts up at least 12 points and 5 boards. That will make me a happy guy for sure.

Dumars didn’t have a need for Delfino, with Prince in there there’s not many minutes at the 3 to go around. They did get two second round picks and Dumars doesn’t have a shabby late drafting record so it’s not like they got robbed.
Raps/Hawks have always been close. Lot of the matchups are very even and the Raps should win. I think the Raps will score more than a 100 points today so their defense is the key.
Yeah, it was good for both parties (Delfino and Dumars), better than languishing on the (Pistons) bench. Right now, Delfino is still a tad inconsistent, but I like what I see (I remember reading in the Toronto Star, how a Detroit scout was down on his game for being inconsistent. All I can say is, give a player inconsistent, minutes, expect inconsistent results). At the very least, he’s not a “soft” player, and he is capable of being aggressive on both sides of the ball.
I have seen some of AP’s games before in the Euroleague, and it’s is nowhere near how he plays for the Raps. It’s almost the same problem as with Calderon. They defer so much to their team mates, that it actually brings their offense down to the point that fans always question if either player is capable of driving to the basket on a regular basis.
Believe or not, AP actually tore up the Euroleague, winning an MVP for driving and finishing strong / nailing jumpers, shooting 3’s, and defending 3 positions.
SmitcH (and Bosh) needs to smack Calderon and AP with a hockey stick every time they give up the ball (when they have a clear shot, or, when they are close to finishing a drive). I know it sounds REALLY odd, but for them being unselfish, is hurting more than helping (I wonder how many teams would LOVE to have that problem).
didn’t dumars even go so far as to say that he knows that delfino will thrive in the raptors system with extended minutes? doesn’t surprise me that ap can take it to the rack. you wont win mvp of anything just shooting the rock. didn’t realize how effective on the drives the man was though. loving the starks impersonation on the baseline!
Raps Fan > I remember reading something like that, how Dumars just didn’t have a spot for him. Yeah, AP/Caldy needs to invoke a little bit of Mike James (or J. Starks) into their games
i think that is why chucks comments are over the top. it’s not like colangelo walked in and raped dumars. he saw a guy who wasn’t getting the minutes because he was playing behind an allstar, and made a move for him.
yeah, but then again, chuck has to make anything the raps braintrust do look genius, he’s a pretty decent spin doctor for the casual fan.
we got to take chuck with the thought that he panders to the casual fan and that we aren’t his target audience.
i remember emailing chuck years ago and he actually responded (or an assistant of his), and that was pretty cool.
Holy crap Bargnani streak of bad games continues
It’s getting ridicolous
I did not see the game but the box score doesn’t lie. I am not sure what to think on Bargs
