Last night I finally watched No Country for Old Men. I have been hearing such good things from friends and the media making the anticipation reach a critical stage.

It should not be the type of movie you go into excited and ready for action.

I honestly knew little about the story other than the creepy killer with the mushroom hair. So that was a plus.

The Coen Brothers are known for their “thinking”  and slow paced movies. This one sure fit that bill.

I wondered many times if this movie was set in a part of America that had not entered the 21st century. But that is what some parts of Texas are like I guess and come to think of it the movie did not really have a time frame.

I liked the story and how some of the obvious parts were left out for our own interpretation. I liked the dialogue between characters. The conversation at the variety store was classic.

I hate giving away anything to those who have not seen it so I won’t even go into the ending.

This movie does for the open plains of the west what Fargo did for the blinding white snow fields of the north.

I could almost smell the desert air in parts.

As for “Chigurh”, he was one scary dude. Reminded me of a living Jason from Friday the 13th. When he pulled over and just popped that crow off the bridge I knew he was one of the best villains on screen in some time.

This movie is an experience for the mind and the senses. Nothing is rushed and everything has an open interpretation of what happened.

If you can handle the violence you should really check this film out before it wins a pile of Oscars next month.
