Last night Katie and I went to see the new 3D U2 movie in IMAX. It does not matter if you are a true fan of the band or not, this film was amazing. Your eyes and ears have not seen anything like this before.
I have not been to a 3D movie in a long time and I totally forgot what I was in for. It certainly was a lot more advanced than the swamp monster movies I saw as a kid.
As soon as the movie started it was clear this was going to be crazy. The opening credits rolling as if they are only feet from your face with a packed stadium in the background.
The band rocked all of their best songs and a few I had not even heard before. The crowd may of been the best part. They were so into it I could almost feel like I was there.
The details were crisp and clear and you could see everything right down to what the band had on stage to drink during the show.
I had forgotten how good U2 is. The Edge is like no other on the guitar and when he gets going it gives me chills.
There were a few times where you almost start to cheer or clap or stomp your feet because you forget you are in a theatre.
It was an amazing experience for the senses and I recommend it for everyone. If you are a true fan of the band this movie is an experience you will never forget.
I only wish you could see more bands this way and not have to pay to see live music that never lives up to what it should be.
U2 is one of the best live acts going and I can almost tell people I saw them play in person……almost.
