New Jersey at Toronto 7pm ET
Figures that when Vince returns to town, the Raptors are a little less than ready for him and the Nets are actually winning.
Tonight at the ACC the Raptors will host VC and the Nets without their coach, maybe without a PG and a superstar not at 100%. Sounds like a recipe for that giant baby Vince to steal one in a city that could not hate him more.
As we know Sam is back in Georgia being with his family and that means Jay Triano will be in the drivers seat tonight.
T.J. Ford’s status is not known at this time thanks to an injured wrist and of course Bosh is fighting a sore knee that he got in the Spurs game on Monday. This is a team that needs a weekend off.
Maybe Jason Kidd gets traded today and won’t be in the lineup? That would be a load off since he is the the brain that runs the body that is the Nets.
All Raptors fans have a bitter taste in their mouth still from last season’s playoffs and I think the only way to work on getting rid of it is to blowout the Nets like they did back in November.
New Jersey is not a team of fighters. You get to them early and they will pack up and leave and leave Kidd to be a one man show.
Carter generally does not play in front on the ACC crowd now that he is the enemy. I will say I am getting tired of the constant booing. We get it, Carter is not liked in Toronto but that was years ago and it is time to move on. I don’t even think he warrants the attention anymore. The rest of the NBA and the American media knows he sucks and that should be the end of it.
Toronto cannot start off like they did on Monday. A good first quarter will build important momentum and allow some buffer room for the bench if T.J. can’t go.
I expect Bosh to tough it out and have a double-double and I also expect Calderon to continue showing the league he belongs in the conversation as best point guards.
From there either Bargs, Delfino or Parker need to chip in with 15-20 points and this will be the Raptors game.
The one issue that has been starting to surface is the Raptors are getting in a bad habit of letting one guy get hot and not doing anything to break it up. Ginobili and Maggette in the last week have killed the Raps and it is time for Moon to show us something on D.
Forget the dunks and the long range shooting. Get down and dirty on defense and block some shots. The Raps need to really work hard on the D because we know they can score.
Should be a good game and you know Chuck is warming up his “Vincent Lamar Carter”.
Raptors win an ugly one 91-87.
