Whoa busy, busy day yesterday. Where do I even start?
Well that is a lie, not much went on during the day other than the usual job hunting, blogging and all-around party time that Kline Street can be.
The night was a whole different story.
A new pizza place of choice, an amazing movie and finishing the evening off with a little Raptors content at the NBA All-Star weekend.
The real fun and excitement started once Katie got home. We both came up with the idea in our head to order out. That pretty much meant pizza and that has never been a strong point of ours when trying to pick from where or what to get on it.
That may have changed for the good.
We ordered from one of the newer places in town called Nick ‘N’ Willy’s pizza that is located on Quinpool. Their whole deal is that they give you the choice of them baking your pie or you can have them make it and you take it home to cook yourself. As we found out they also have some great choices for toppings and styles of pizza. Halifax has not seen anything like this before and it certainly reminded me of a Toronto pizza experience.
After reading over the menu a few times we came up with a consensus pick. The Smoked Chicken Fontina which consisted of Olive oil glaze, mozzarella, fresh garlic, smoked chicken breast, broccoli tips, diced tomatoes, sliced red onions, fontina cheese & oregano. I wish I could write something that would let you taste just how good it was. It only took one slice for me to declare it the best pizza I have had since moving to Halifax.
We ordered a large so there would be leftovers and I think there is only one lonely slice left in the box right now. It was that good. We have already agreed that we will be ordering from their again and trying out many of their specialty pizzas.
Going Wild
With a fire starting to crackle and warm up the living room it was time to watch a movie. A great thing to do on a cold evening in the city. The feature film of the evening was one I have been really looking forward to. It was Sean Penn’s directorial debut, Into The Wild and this movie did not disappoint.
Feelings after watching this movie included:
- Wanting to grow a beard.
- Go camping.
- Listen to Pearl Jam.
- Get in the car and just drive.
- Learn more about what plants or roots you should never eat.
The scenery was breath taking and it truly made you feel cold as you watched it all of the parts in Alaska. The cast was full of solid actors and actresses and I really enjoyed Emile Hirsch’s performance. It was great to see Vince Vaughn as well.
But as Katie and I agreed on, the best part of the whole movie was the soundtrack composed by Eddie Vedder. We have been listening to it for months and it truly captured the movie and when certain songs started I got goosebumps.
What a score for Sean Penn to get Vedder to write origional songs for a film that really needed the right kind of music to match the amazing scenery and story.
Even the running time of over two hours did not dampen my spirits when watching. I actually wanted more and kind of wish I saw this movie on the big screen.
One of the best movies I have seen lately for sure.
Raptor time!
Once the movie was over I got to see the second half of the Rookie-Soph game. This game is all about dunks and zero defense although I did catch the Moon Man playing some D and blocking some shots.

Of course Moon will be on full display tonight when he tries to win the Slam Dunk title and many people are picking him to win including me.
He had some nice dunks in the game but you could tell he was holding back.

It was nice to hear Chuck and Kenny talk about the two Raptors player in the game even if they never really had anything nice to say about Andrea.

Oh well, such is life when you are a giant Italian guy picked No. 1 and not dominating yet.
Make sure you tune in tonight and are ready to text. Jamario is going to win!!
On with the show.
