What GM really stands for and the All-Star skills!

Dude, what the hell do they mean by a passlock problem?
Yesterday was one of those days where I would like to go back in time and edit out all of the precious minutes I wasted on stupid things and everything that bothered me. Trust me there was a lot considering we did not plan to do much with our day.
A deep freeze in Halifax caused our car to not play nice, not everything went according to plan at the NBA All-Star skills and the day ended with something very fishy on Kline.
Did I hook you in?
First let me say that it was not Winnepeg or Alberta cold but for Atlantic Canada it was like being stuck in a freezer next to the pudding pops.
Our plan was to go out into the world and hunt for some wood for the fireplace, get some necessary groceries and hit the booze store because Katie was going to a birthday party later on.
We successfully achieved only the booze. Why? Well when we went to fire up the car it did not want to budge. You know, that dreaded click, click, click noise.
We are by no means car people but our first thought was that it was very cold, maybe it was the battery since the car had not been out in a few days.
So I went in and called my dad and ran it by him. He seemed to agree and said it probably needed a jump. Before even considering who we could get to come over and boost the car, I called our GM service station since our car was in for it’s sixth month inspection just last week. Maybe they did not do something right or at least I would get confirmation that it was actually just the cold.
Right away the guy said “No way it is the cold, it sounds like a passlock problem to me”.
“Leave it for 30 minutes and try it again and if it does not work then we will have to bring it in and have a look”.
Great, we just had it in there and spent more money than we wanted and now it will have to go in again??
Of course I investigated what the hell passlock meant.
It seems it is some option that GM cars have that intend to stop theft. Basically if the car thinks it is getting stolen, the ignition and gas line are separated. Great idea but how does the car know if it is being stolen or it is the owners trying to drive it?
From what I can tell there is somthing in the key chain with RF signals or something. I am not going to go into this because in the end this was not the problem. This is to show how underhanded the guys at the service center are.
I swear this is their standard “fail safe” was of getting cars into the shop so they can do whatever they want. Passlock issue?? Sounds very bogus to me even if it is a real feature.
So we waited, went to get the booze and after walking home I tried it again. Nothing. All of the lights and powerlocks started having muscle spasms, clicking like crazy. That made me think that this was out of my control.
So we arrange for tow truck to come and take it in. The thought of what this little adventure was going to cost was really bugging us. I read up on everything I could think of to fix it but nothing.
Finally around 4pm the tow guy showed up.
First thing he asked was what was wrong. He asked to try it out for himself and when he saw the crazy lights flashing and the power locks clicking, he pretty much knew the problem.
The battery needed a jump! SHOCKING!
So in about 20 seconds he had the car going and rolled his eyes at everything the GM dealer was saying.
“It is cold out, the battery just needed a spark”.
So the car was going and it only cost us 40 bucks. At that point 40 seemed like a steal considering what it could of been.
So I drove around to charge up the battery a bit and all was well.
We are going to get some jumper cables and sign up for CAA and be responsible owners now that we have finally accepted we can’t trust the GM people.

GM really stands for Get Money in my opinion. What a waste of an afternoon.
Let The Games Begin
After I dropped Katie off at her party around 7pm it was time to go home and watch some NBA All-Star skills. Every year this event is much hyped but never that interesting. I was only excited because I wanted to see Jamario Moon win the Dunk contest.
Here is how I saw the night told in pictures. I am tired of typing and am going to go and enjoy my Sunday morning.

Cheryl Miller is one brutal broadcaster. Almost ruined the night.

Some Raptors content in New Orleans. Kapono crushed the field.

Jamario’s dunks were good but not great. See below for great.

How the hell would Lex Luther stop this guy? Crazy good!!

In the end, more people now know who the Moon man is.
Morons at Mcdonalds
After Katie got home from her party and the dunk contest was over she was feeling hungry for a cheeseburger. It was late but we finally ended up hitting the local Mcdonalds for late night food using the 24-hour drive thru.
I should of known to check the order when we got it in the car because I don’t trust 16-year old slackers. Sure enough the order that was supposed to be two cheeseburgers and a small fry turned out to be something very different when Katie went to eat it.
One cheeseburger, one fillet of fish and a medium fries. Great work boys.
Ahhhh what a way to end the day.
I’m done.

Good post, I suppose you’re right. Moon is more know today than he was yesterday. Hopefully he has a strong finish to the season and he can get back to being our defensive stopper. I think Moon’s dunks were great not just “good” but the judges were looking for something else
Late night McDonalds workers usually aren’t too concerned about accuracy.
Did you catch James pushing Moon after the Rookie/Sophmore game? Makes me even less of a LeBron fan.
