After I saw the Raptors deal for Primo Brezec hit the ticker yesterday I had no real reaction. A big guy who does not play for a little guy who does not play. Not a blockbuster by any means.
But then I got thinking about the motivation for BC to pull the trigger on this one. Was it to clear cap space? Was it to make Juan a happy guy even though he won’t play much more for the Pistons? Was it to get the Raptors name on ESPN yesterday?
All could be true and very easy to point out but I came up with an angle that most may of missed. BC wanted to keep his sleeping giant happy. That is right, BC did his best to put a rare smile on the man known as Rasho and to spur the big guy on to lead the Raptors to the promised land this spring.

You see Primo Brezec is a fellow Slovenian and that makes Rasho feel more at home and now he does not have to go out for dinner with all the chatty kids or other Euros on the team.
Primo and Rasho can take a slower approach to the city and enjoy evenings of little talking and fine cuisine.
BC did not go out and get a banger or a rebounder, he decided to work with what he has. Lighting a fire under the Rasho-saurus could pay off huge for the Raps. You saw what bringing Garbo in did for Calderon’s game.
If it worked once why the hell can’t it work again. Prepare for the Slovenian twin towers to dominate the NBA in deadpan expressions and the ever famous tap out. Rasho will see Primo as a younger version of himself or a mini-me and before long you won’t be able to tell them apart except for the headband that Primo will most likley wear.
Great deal BC but you did not fool me with your logic. Now it is time to see if it works.
