Toronto 102, Indiana 98
Before I get to the game breakdown please allow me to go off on a little rant. My beef is about the Raptors broadcast tonight and pretty well every broadcast that is done by TSN. For those of you who don’t know TSN is The Sports Network or ESPN Canada. Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate them or anything, I even used to work there. But their over the top promotion of the NHL trade deadline is about as bad as I have ever seen it. American Idol does not get that kind of advertising. Who the hell cares guys, there will be no major deals and life will move on. As a fan of basketball in Canada I have had enough.
When was the last time you were watching a Leafs game and they promote anything to do with the NBA? Maybe an update on the Raptors score? Not often and if they do they probably had nothing else to fill the time. Tonight’s broadcast felt like they could not wait to get off the air and back to their obese hockey set where the experts are breaking down nothing.
Okay back to Raptors basketball. I did not watch the entire game partly because of the hockey slant but also the atmosphere in Indy was horrible. Were there any fans there? How far have the Pacers fallen when they are last in the NBA in attendance. Rik Smits where are you brother?
The game lacked pretty much everything I look for in sporting event except for the final outcome which was a Raptor win. They played like garbage but they got it done and that is what a good team does.
The first quarter was about as bad as the Raps have looked lately (I did not see the Knick loss). Thankfully the second quarter was exceptional and it was enough to get the win.
T.J. Ford looked good tonight and really added something to the mix when Calderon was not early.
Bargnani was rebounding but his shot did not make the trip. Good thing Carlos Delfino packed his bag of threes because the team needed them tonight.
Other notes
- Marquis Daniels hair is brutal.
- Chuck got way to excited over a pretty normal dunk by Bosh.
- Rod Black is about as bad as it gets on air.
- No NHL trades were made while I watched, thank god. They may of broken into the game.
- Jamario is getting the rough treatment from Sam. He is still learning.
- Kapono can shoot but he could be the worst interview in the NBA.
- Troy Murphy is not going to win any beauty contests.
- Larry Bird just wants to blow the whole thing up and start again.
I’m tired, short recap tonight. Gotta go see if there were any NHL deals before I go to bed.
