Toronto at Charlotte 6pm ET
I have to be honest, I have no idea what to expect from this game. The Raptors are the better team but it is not known yet if Chris Bosh is playing or not and even though Toronto is still a superior team without Bosh, it is the story line of this game. What Raptors team will show up? Based on how they looked the other night I can be almost positive that they won’t play worse.
Despite leaving the team’s most recent game with a sore right knee, CB4 could be ready to play tonight.
The injury forced Bosh to leave late in the first quarter of Toronto’s 122-111 home loss to Indiana on Friday night. Bosh didn’t return, but an MRI revealed no structural damage, just minor swelling.
Bosh has averaged 23.2 points and 9.4 rebounds in nine career games versus the Bobcats.
If Bosh can’t go tonight the burden will fall on Bargnani, Calderon and Ford to do most of the scoring. Ideally Delfino, Parker and Kapono can add in points as well but you can never bank on it.
Bargnani did not shoot well but he did shoot a lot on Friday night, ending up with 27 points and looked great driving to the bucket. If he can play that way more often and bump up the shooting percentage I will be one happy Raptors fan. I am not going to knock the shooting woes because he is trying and not just firing up threes. His passing and rebounding are getting better as well and it sure is a sign of what could be in the future.
Though Toronto scored more than 100 points for the fourth straight game and 13th time in 16 contests, the Pacers game also marked by far the most points Toronto has allowed to an Eastern opponent all season.
The Raps will try for a fifth consecutive win over Charlotte while looking to improve to 5-1 all-time against the Bobcats on the road.
I am hopeful Sam does not change up his lineup to match the Bobcats like he did on Friday. Ford and Calderon did not work that well together and I really like bringing in Rasho or Primoz for some inside D and rebounding. Brezec has not play a lot so far but he brings energy and size and of course he is playing a Bobcats coach tonight that he hates.
I expect the defense to be tighter tonight and the overall performance to be more focused and passionate. They all know they stunk it up on Friday and now they have three road games to right the ship. No game is a gimme in this league, you have to try every night and let talent take over once the opposing team is down for the count.
I don’t really get these Sunday night games but whatever, I will be on the couch and ready for some lame salami and cheese commercials.
The Bobcats will again be without leading scorer Gerald Wallace as he continues to recover from a concussion suffered on Feb. 22. This could be a bad sign. As we have seen Toronto does not do well against injured teams.
Raptors win 96-89 regardless of Bosh playing or not.
