Toronto at Miami 7:30 ET
Another night another game. I am hoping it does not mean another loss or it will truly be time to hit the panic button. The Toronto Raptors are looking to avoid a season-high fourth straight loss. They will likely have to do that without Chris Bosh when they close out a three-game road trip against the league-worst Miami Heat.
The Raptors have dropped three consecutive games for a third time this season and two of those defeats have come without Bosh. The Raps All-Star is expected to miss his third straight game with a right knee injury.
Against the Magic Bosh did not seem to be miss as much as I thought until the end of the game. The rebounding was strong and for most of the game against the Magic the team fought hard without their star. But the offense looked lost many times and that left T.J. Ford to try and make something happen and at times looking out of control.
If Bosh can’t go which is likely, then Rasho Nesterovic will make his third consecutive start. He had a season-high 16 points in a 110-98 loss at Charlotte on Sunday, but followed that up with just two points on 1-of-7 shooting against the Magic.
Anthony Parker will be looking to continue his strong play after scoring 19 points and grabbing nine rebounds on Tuesday. AP is averaging 22.7 points and 7.0 boards in the last three games to increase his season averages to 12.1 and 4.0, respectively.
He hopes to continue getting help from reserve guard T.J. Ford, who scored 13 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter Tuesday after going 2-for-9 for six points against the Bobcats.
Ford is averaging 14.7 points over the last six games.
I am hoping Ford can play more under control and get his team involved instead of trying to do it all on his own. Kapono and Bargnani need to hit some jumpers to open up the floor.
Delfino had a great game on Monday on the boards but his shots were not dropping.
I am not really sure where the offenses is supposed to come from if Ford and Calderon are not getting a lot of assits. Other than Ford and sometimes Parker, they don’t have someone to break down a defense.
The good news tonight is they are playing the Heat. Stop D-Wade and you should survive. Although this will be the first time playing Marion as a member of the Heat. The Raps will have to keep him off the glass the best they can.
The Heat return home after Sunday’s 120-109 loss at Sacramento, during which they squandered a 23-point, second-quarter lead.
Wade looks to build off two straight strong performances. On Friday, he made 13 of 25 shots to finish with 31 points and five assists in a 103-93 win at Seattle. Wade had totaled 33 points in the two previous games.
Wade was limited to 12 points and four assists in the last matchup with the Raptors.
A loss on Wednesday would give the Heat their worst record at this point in a season since they were 8-50 to start the 1988-89 season - their first in the NBA
I can’t imagine the Raps playing bad enough to lose tonight but we have all seen stranger things happen.
Call me crazy but I am calling for a Raptors win, 94, 84.
