Seattle at Toronto 1pm ET

I was not going to do a game preview today simply because I have reached a breaking point with my Raps. I have been so frustrated lately it is actually hard to write about the team. But I am a trooper or just like to punish myself because here it is. A breakdown of this afternoon’s game against the Sonics at the ACC.

Before getting to the actual hoops, there has to be mention of a few non-basketball situations that could influence today’s game. First I hear that Toronto is currently buried under a mountain on snow. That could limit the crowd size (a classic excuse by Chuck for the Raps not playing well), the Sonics may of had a bitch of a time getting in and to the ACC and maybe some of the Raptors threw their back out shoveling?? I can only imagine how tired Calderon must be after going around and shoveling out his teammates. I mean he already carries them on the floor and hands out drinks in the locker room so it would not surprise me if he did the snow removal as well.

Another key factor today is the time. Yep the clocks jumped ahead today and when adding that to an already early start time and a Sonics team that has their body clock set on west coast time, they could really be messed up.

I have faith that the Raps will take advantage of none of these factors and start out slow and bored and most likely will be losing for most of the first half.

I have not heard much of Kevin Durant lately so I am sure he will go off today for 30.

The Sonics may be crap but they can rebound. I can see Chris Wilcox eating the rebounds as well as whoever guards him (literally eat them).

A little too negative so far? Hmmmm I guess.

Bosh isn’t expected to play on today but it would be nice to see him on the bench supporting the guys. Even him being there could be a motivational tool when the Raptors try to avoid their fifth loss in six games.

While the Raptors can’t replace their leading scorer and rebounder, they got a lift in their last game from Andrea Bargnani, who led the team with 27 points and five 3-pointers.

Toronto hopes to take advantage of struggling Seattle team which has lost seven of eight and is on pace to finish with the worst record in franchise history. The Sonics need to win eight of their remaining 20 games to top their 23-59 mark from their inaugural 1967-68 campaign.

That likely won’t be possible if they continue to play like they did in Friday night’s 117-83 loss at Philadelphia.

The Sonics are 1-3 on their season-high seven-game road trip.

Normally all of this boils into a tasty afternoon snack for the Raps but I can’t even be sure it is an easy win.

I will say that the Raps have to win because I don’t see that many in their near future.

Sigh…..I am going to watch……..and hope my afternoon is not a waste.

Build me up buttercup…..please Raps make this day a little more enjoyable.

Raps……..um……..win…….95-85.
