Toronto 89, Detroit 82

For those Raptors fans that went out for the night assuming the big loss, yes that score is correct. It was an ugly game, Detroit may have mailed one in but whatever…..the Raps are back and it was in large part to Forderon the two-headed PG.

Detroit is just one of those teams you never expect to beat. They seem to only lose to inferior teams when they are not playing the Raps. Well boys I think you caught the Pistons on a night when they really did not care. Woo weee.

Right off the bat without Rip you knew there was a shot to steal a home win and thanks to a lot of Detroit turnovers and poor shooting the Raps got far enough ahead that they were able to fight off any late attempts at a comeback.

Bosh played solid but it was Rasho, Ford, Calderon and Delfino that did the damage tonight.

Finally Carlos hit some shots. It seemed like months since he made some jumpers. Nice to see Delfino fight through a blocked shot and a missed dunk to score some nice buckets.

Rasho had another silent but deadly game almost getting a double-double. Although I want Bargnani to actually grow into something it is the right move to start Rasho. They guy has earned it.

Now for the movie that is rated PG. The point guards baby.

Ford is back to starting and did a nice job getting people involved while still looking for his shot. He can get anywhere he wants it is just a matter of doing the right thing when he gets there.

The Pistons were posting him up but he had a big swipe on Chauncey in the late going that pissed off the Pistons guard and caused him to pick up a silly foul be laying out Calderon.

Jose (who by the way could run for mayor in Toronto these days) did his thing off the bench and hot some big shots. What can you say about Calderon, taking one for the team and banking a lot of credit he will cash in very soon.

Whe the two played together it worked tonight. A lot of ball movement and it kept the game a little faster than Detroit wanted it.

I still think this game was more about Detroit not caring as much as lets say a game against Phoenix but the Raps played well enough to win. They did not cave at the end and that was the biggest life lesson of the night.

Sucks that the Sixers won again. Have they lost in 2008??

A win to build on, a win that they can take a lot of good from and a win that they needed.

I hope the Raps don’t lay a stinker on Friday against the Knicks and piss away all the good they did tonight.

There of course were the negatives but I am in a good mood and will save those for another day. You know who you are Andrea.

Other notes

  • Leo is still very obsessed with length.
  • My friend Eddie got a lot of air time sitting at the scorer’s table.
  • While watching the game with me Katie said that Carlos is allowed to have poor nights. He has the looks so who cares.
  • I would love to have Stuckey on the Raps.
  • It took Chuck about eight seconds to tell us once again how the Raps used to have Billups.

Game Ball Rasho just cause he gets no love.
