WordPress 2.5 woes

Went through with the big WordPress 2.5 upgrade today and I hate it. Don’t like the layout, it messed up so many things and I don’t have the time to mess around.

So if somthing looks wrong, it probably is.

Grrrrrrr.

I will get it back to normal soon.

Well so far most of the stuff is working.

I am just missing my feedburner counter (no idea why it won’t show up) and the most popular plugin won’t work anymore.

The new backend is confusing as hell.

It is like coming home and someone has moved all your furniture around.

I am reading that most tech folks love it but as a person who does not have time to deal with all of these bells and whistles I am not very impressed.

Instead of writing content I am spending all of my time fixing stuff.

What have others found and does anyone know why my little feedburner counter won’t show up?

i’m having the same problem man…it is getting on my nerves actually. such a dramatic change from the last version.

Cuzzy…did you make a backup of the site before the upgrade? If you did you can just put the 2.5 Wordpress in a new directory, then upload the backup from 2.3 and be back to normal. Since all of your articles are stored in a database you won’t have to rewrite content that was posted after the update. If you need any assistance hit me up on email.

it is not as bad as losing content etc.

it is just all of the little things and plugins that now do not work

plus the new layout is pretty dramatic in change.

I will get it all fixed I just don’t like wasting time on BS I already did.

I used the plugin below and it worked like a charm. Backed up my site and DB automatically, disabled and re-enabled/updated my plugins. Granted, my house isn’t as intense as yours or RapsFans, but this plugin tells you which of your plugins need to be re-hashed. My feedburner stuff is still a-ok.

I upgraded in less than 10min.

Thanks, that is the exact plugin I used…..it did not reactivate my plugins when it was supposed to so I had to go back and do it all manually.

My feeds are working fine, it is just the stupid little feed stat thing that won’t show up even though the code is still there.

I liked the look, until I wrote an actual post. I only use Wordpress.com, and I need to use actual HTML to add links, and I can spellcheck or things like that. Its a piss off.

I can’t believe I spelt my own name wrong. I must be really tore up that Wordpress took away the Spellcheck for some reason.

I lost all my pictures even ones I photshopped. Albiet, they were terrible anyhow, but still . . . And for some reason, when I write a post and then preview it, many changes aren’t there in the preview. There’s an odd delay. Anyhow, maybe it’ll get worked out soon.

I’m still using Windows Live Writer to write posts and have had no issues (and no need to muck around or “get lost”) in the new dashboard and writing posts issues.

I haven’t updated my WP yet, have read so many problems from everyone who make the update recently and mostly are the plugins, I need to wait until all the current plugins that I used being upgraded to work in the latest version before installing the new WP.

Also thanks for the backup tips, will have to do that first then :o)
