Yep it is me, the guy who was planning on taking the week off from posting and certainly the guy who needed a break from the Raptors. Things are starting to work again and I figured I would take a shot at posting.
I have been reading all of the other blogs and papers and you would think the last few days were set at training camp. Here are a few things floating around that are worth noting.
Raptors look to clean up beyond the arc
“Two days of practice have been good for that. The Raptors regularly do drill shooting before and after their workouts, with more shooting incorporated into their practice. One aspect Mitchell will be looking for from his three-point shooters — primarily Parker, Bargnani, Carlos Delfino and Jason Kapono — is a more aggressive posture when catching the ball.” (Globe and Mail)
Guess this is not what he had in mind.
From Doug Smith’s blog today
A question a few have posed
Q: Hey Doug. A couple of questions about the upcoming game on Sunday versus Detroit. I’ve noticed that they have changed the start time from 6 p.m. to 1 p.m. so it could air on ABC in the United States.
a) Why would ABC want to air this game when it has no real significance in the grand scheme of things?
b) Are we going to be able to watch the American feed for the game and get a perspective on the Raptors from someone other than Swirsky?
Perry K, Ottawa
A: ABC was originally going to broadcast Miami at Cleveland as the early game on Sunday and, next to that, Toronto-Detroit looks like Lakers-Celtics.
Yes, on ABC you’ll see the ABC feed, I understand it, not The Score.
——————-
Thank god! As much as I hate Jackson and Breen it will be better than that bald freak. Wait, Jackson and Breen won’t do the Raptors game, it is not Kobe or LeBron.
Red Party news
Why on earth was Martin there? Did he buy season tickets?
Smitch finds the reason for losses
“Bent knees, for example, have been in short supply in Raptorland. Yesterday, coach Sam Mitchell mentioned that video viewing of an ongoing three-game losing streak has revealed too many instances where Raptors who should know better have caught the ball on the perimeter with straight legs.
This is a grade-school no-no, of course. In a game of bang-bang reaction, it’s a posture that says: “I’m no threat.”
A straight-legged offensive player doesn’t have time to be a threat. By the time he bends his knees and assumes the proper offensive stance – the so-called triple-threat position – he has lost whatever edge he once had.” (Toronto Star)
Bend those knees guys, I will be watching and counting tonight.
So what will happen tonight against the Bucks? I have no idea but for all of the questioning and pointing of fingers I just hope they figure out a way to win and keep the dream alive.
