Well it has been a week since I hit the blog wall for many reasons and the time off was good. I know there were a few posts over the past week but they were mostly ones written already that were sitting in the draft pile.
I have been doing more work on one of my other blog and doing a lot of tinkering in Cuzoogle’s kitchen so to speak. Trying out new WordPress plugins and trying to make everything better looking for the readers.
I was cool to see that traffic actually went up while I took a step back. It helped that guys at SI.com linked up a post about picking the winners of the NHL playoffs.
So a new week is here and it is time to get back to the daily grind and move Cuzoogle forward again. Monday will start off with a bang and I only hope you stop by to see what it is.
Other stuff
WordPress Woes 2.5
So as you know I have been having some issues with the new version of WordPress. I am almost ready to say I like the new look and new features but there are still a few things that are bothering me.
1. Does anyone else get this when they try to write a new post, save a post or try to leave a post?
It is the most hated parted of blogging since I upgraded. My computer freezes up for a few seconds and I have to keep closing this window. I don’t know how to fix it and wondered if anyone out there had an idea.
2. The widgets are another pain in the ass. I don’t really know why they changed how you arrange them and move them around. It was very easy before and I just don’t see the purpose of reinventing the wheel.
Trying to remove one is a mystery to me. Every time I have hit remove in one of the text widgets, every text widget in that row gets cleaned out. It is such a great joy to think you removed one and you go back to your site and all of the text widgets are gone. Talk about time consuming going back and entering that code again for ads and links etc.
If anyone has a guide to use the new setup for widgets I would love to read it.
3. Adding images is cumbersome and annoying. I finally figured out at least with my setup that I have to save a post manually before ever trying to add an image. If I don’t it will go to a new page and I will lose what I wrote. The whole process seems longer and more painful than before. If you are doing a post where you are adding several images, it can take up to an hour.
4. The categories underneath the posting area is just bad. There is no other way to say it. IF you have a long list of categories it can be really hard to navigate. Again, what was so wrong with it before?
I have tried some of the plugins that give the dashboard a new look but sadly with each one, it brings it’s own new problems.
NBA playoffs are almost here
Finally some decent ball to watch. I have been very unimpressed with my Raptors for many weeks now and sadly thanks to the broadcast team of Chuck and Leo, I find it hard to even watch a game. Most Raptors fans will agree that they can really destroy any enjoyment of watching a game.
Three games left (Detroit, Miami and Chicago) and all have to be wins I think if they want to avoid the dreaded 7spot.
I will certainly get a boost of playoff fever because I will be in Toronto next weekend and will be able to soak up any buzz in the city and at the very least watch the game with other Raptors fans.
Cuzoogle is back
So fire up the RSS readers and dust off the bookmark because Cuzoogle is back to day-to-day business this week. We can all use a break now and then and I can only hope that I won’t feel the need to take another one anytime soon.
So on Monday morning come back and be ready to vote.
